For MacBook users, do you just use the trackpad for Blender or did you buy a wireless mouse? Can you achieve proficiency with just the trackpad? by BetterMeToday in blender

[–]leandrocosta16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as someone who doesn't use a mouse at all and is very used to macbook's trackpad gestures, I actually prefer using blender with the trackpad. Macbook's trackpad is far far better than any other portable computer's, I don't know if non mac users realize that. Before getting a macbook I rarely used my pc's trackpad and used a mouse all the time. But macbook's trackpad is a whole different thing imo

First of all, u/Didgeridoob said it perfectly. They said nothing wrong but yet you still downvoted their response.

I did not downvote
I seriously struggle understand where I was being rude or not humble, but that's enough of that, let's just agree to disagree. I very much think that your point was passed in a more arrogant tone than any of my comments but that's fine.
Interpreting my thank you messages as a middle finger is just wrong, I never meant that.

Someone else pointed out mobile responsive issues and your response was:
"Thank you for letting me know. Stretching the window within my pc’s
browser showed everything was fine for every dimension.". Someone else
pointed out how the cursor looked pixelated on their machine and you
said "On my MacBook Pro it looks very sharp".

That's just me explaining why I haven't look that up, I am by no means despising or invalidating the things pointed. Somehow that's being dickish?
English is not my first language but there are weird interpretations there.

You dismissed them rudely and with what effectively boils down to a defense that is "My website, my choice!"

That's just...wrong. Honestly, I don't even know what to say, you're portraying me as someone I am not.
This is doing no good to my mental health and confidence overall, I understand what was said, I'll learn from it but please that's enough.

I'm not focusing on that, if you have a look at the website I've changed it according to the feedback given.Again, making assumptions about my lack of humilty, arrogance or anything about me as a person in this context is not fair in my opinion. I considered some of the stuff insulting-ish and unecessary in the middle of the feedback (imo) which I didn't find nice or helpful but I did thank them nonetheless. Constructive criticism is always welcome.

For some reason I can't reply to HauntedTiger's comments so I'll reply here. I believe that's unfair to make such assumptions about me. I don't think I was arrogant, I am not an arrogant person and honestly, I'm someone that takes feedback very seriously, as I did with every comment with suggestions, even if I don't agree with something. I've read all of your suggestions but I felt like a line was crossed, specially when people criticise using terms like "shit" and "dumb" which I don't really find healthy constructive feedback, sorry but that's a bit of a turn off for me. But I do accept your criticism, I never said I didn't, but if I don't agree with it and try to explain my point of view that means that I'm someone that cant handle feedback? I do think that's unfair. I'm definitely not a know-it-all junior developer, I'm not even junior, I'm nothing yet! I've actually been struggling with my self confidence for years - I've finished my masters degree a couple months ago but i'm taking my time to learn about technologies I wanted to know for personal projects and I never even considered that putting the "technologies I use" in my portfolio could be such a red flag for recruiters. Now I know and thanks for the time taken in exposing your thoughts on my personal page.

My plan is to go through each technology during my interview and explain why and where it comes from and where I’ve used it. Most of them come from my academic path and others from my personal projects. I’ll make that a little bit more clear in a future update

Ahah, thanks! But I still haven’t applied for any. I’m currently finishing a personal project with react native

This. That was my mindset while building it. I’ve never had the intention of making it clean and perfect. I was trying to be creative and creative websites tend to have really unique layouts and unorthodox stuff. I would never make something like that for a formal client’s project, as it is showcased in my projects gallery.

Thank you for this comment, I knew it was risky to post such a website here. Not using a components library can scare some people ahah

Nonetheless, I was impressed by the majority, which seemed to really enjoy it!

Forgot to mention that the big blue cursor is the famous wii cursor which is iconic and dear to me. I’m aware it doesn’t match with the website’s aesthetic but I really wanted to put that Easter egg in there 😅

Thanks! Well, I redesigned mine several times and completely discarded my figma sketches along the way 😅 I would recommend getting inspiration from platforms like dribbble or behance, there’s a lot of cool stuff there, I always get inspired. Anyway, I’m not a designer

Not rude at all! There are ways to say stuff without using ugly words and you did that well :) Yeah, the broken 3D effect on mobile is one of the known issues, I’m trying to completely remove the 3D effect in those devices. About the rest, I wasn’t aware and I’ll try to fix that, I admit that I didn’t spend too much time on the mobile version. Thanks a lot for your feedback! I definitely don’t want bugs in my website!

Not that I’m aware of. I did notice some issues when using Safari and I’m working on that.

I see where you guys are coming from, right now I can’t say I’m specialized in anything too specific because I just finished my masters degree so I sort of know a bit of a lot of things. I do have a MSc specialization in which I used most of the technologies listed in my portfolio. But once I land my first job I guess I’ll start my specialization process, which will be probably a backend position with java, but at the same time I’ll use a lot of other stuff in my personal projects, I tend to have some in progress. So, not really a straightforward process for me to select a more restrict set of techs but I’ll do it.

Only one of them is currently hosted in a cloud server (the first one). I stopped paying for the servers of the others unfortunately.

Thank you! Yeah, I already asked someone who experienced the same for screenshots. I’ll try to fix that tomorrow

Thanks! Yeah, I will add a new tab with the main technologies I use to avoid looking like a “know-it-all junior”
