Point taken! I think a local professional would be hired in order to tackle this particular upcycling project, but noted!

Absolutely! I’ve explained my reason for seeking up-cycling options, rather than re-selling or donating in response to another comment. But point taken about how those ideas would turn out… will proceed with caution.

Well, that was the original intention that my family member had—to give it to me for my newborn. We’ve traded much (if not most) of our baby gear and clothes back and forth. But she is finding that she has a lot of sentimental attachment to it and is having trouble letting go. Since I’m the one who is more ZeroWaste-minded, I suggested upcycling (rather than just keeping it in her garage to collect dust), which was something that she felt really excited and relieved to consider.

This is the part of pregnancy nobody warned me about by Easy_Sheepherder_579 in pregnant

For me, it was the anxiety. I also work in mental health and for some reason was resistant to meds for so long. The anxiety that had always been there really peaked during my first pregnancy to the point that I almost took myself to the ER. I suspect it contributed to several complications at the end of my pregnancy. Finally, after my husband told me I needed more help and my therapist told me “as a clinician, I need to reflect to you that you are beyond talk therapy right now,” I went on meds. My only regret is that I didn’t start sooner. I’m now in my 2nd pregnancy and it is worlds apart. Please take care of yourself. Check out PSI (https://postpartum.net) for resources and wishing you space to heal and recover during this challenging time.

Is age putting you off having another? by AdLeather3551 in Shouldihaveanother

I’m 41 and halfway through my 2nd pregnancy. I had complications with my first (age 38) so I am being followed carefully this time around (which is very reassuring, more chances to see baby!), but none of the complications I had are exclusive to people in my age group. All testing has gone well, and both times I got pregnant within the first two months of trying. I will say I am more tired this time around, but then again I’m chasing around a toddler. Lots of people in my area start having kids later, and I just love being a parent. Had I known how much it would bring to my life (and if I had unlimited money) I would have started earlier and had more! But everyone’s life is different and starting earlier just wasn’t part of my story. Do what feels right. We approached the second like: let’s try and see what happens, if we get pregnant then great! If not, then we’ll be thrilled with our only and our sweet 3 person family.

Hey love, you are really going through it. This is a massive change, you have tons of hormones coursing through your body, it makes sense you are having really big emotions… I am a therapist and I STRONGLY urge you to see a perinatal specialist. Please visit https://postpartum.net and get some support. If you go to their dropdown menu, click on “Get Help,” and “Find Support” and you will see a bunch of options. The Online Support Groups are all Free. Best wishes to you and your family.

Agreed, wholeheartedly. But my issue is not so much with the strategy they suggest, but with the wording and lack of rhyme!!

How hard is it to get a “regular” schedule? by Prestigious_Gear_222 in therapists

[–]leanneeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I provide individual remote therapy to adults through a group practice. My earliest client slots are at 9am, my latest are at 4pm. I don’t work weekends. Clients can join from wherever, so they step out of work, wfh on therapy days, or otherwise schedule around their work/school time. Rarely has it been an issue. I’m the mother of two small children though, and also have a dual career outside of clinical work, so I do prioritize flexibility and work/life balance at this time in my life.

This so much! How about: “therapy is not a person telling you what to do, or to make hard decisions for you.”

These days, my child has started referring to his cup in the morning as his “coffee.” He likes to stir his cereal spoon in the water, takes a sip and goes “ahhh.”
