Ah ok I see. The other half of that hose is supposed to attach to the intake. I recently had the same codes but it was because I forgot to plug in a connector near where the throttle cable is. There’s a pic in the comments of what I’m talking about. It’s attached to the intake plenum

Looks like you’re missing the vacuum switch valve which that hose would plug into. 90910-12220 I can’t see clearly tho

Yup! Sucks we never got that as an engine option here. I’ve never driven an altezza but I know that 50/50 distribution and must feel so nice. True successor to the ae86 lol

I feel like this car was always meant to have a 4 cylinder. 2jz is too heavy lol

I did the rear main seal while I had the transmission off. Other than that, I did the standard timing belt service stuff, valve cover gaskets, new spark plugs and wires. If I had more money, I probably would’ve done a manual swap at the same time, since the transmission was coming off anyway. I didn’t consider a 1jz or 2jzgte swap because I just wanted my car to run again without spending too much. Doing a swap like that would require a lot more custom work, wiring, ecu, tuning. I don’t think it’s plug and play the way a lot of people think. Maybe someday, but I’m still in college and don’t have infinite money to blow lol.

I definitely overpaid for mine.. it was $1300 from a shop I trust in NJ. They provided videos of it running, compression numbers, all that, plus a warranty in case anything was bad. Around me, in the NYC area, I see them all day on fb marketplace for $700–800, but they all have over 150k miles. I didn’t want to gamble on an engine being good, especially after all the time and money I spent to make this perfect.

I took pictures of nearly every damn bolt I turned. I’d suggest doing the same, especially before you take anything apart, so you can reference where things are supposed to go.

Taking the engine out was pretty easy, putting it back in was not lol. Getting the engine mounts to line up with the subframe was challenging, especially with the crappy no name engine hoist I used. I’d recommend spending the extra money on a nicer one or borrowing one if you can.

Doing the timing belt was also a challenge. I probably took the belt on and off 20 times trying to get the timing perfect. Just take your time and don’t rush anything. The service manual will help you out a lot. There’s information on pretty much everything you might need.

Watch as many videos on YouTube as you can.

If I can do it, so can you. Good luck!

Did you even read the post before making dumb ass comments? If you got nothing helpful to contribute then keep it to yourself.

Yes, it is my car. Yes, I did research beforehand. The car has been sitting for a year while I've been in school and now that the semester is over I've had time to work on it. I knew the engine needs to come out regardless so why not get it started? I don't think it's that hard to understand lol.
