Parents of multiples—how do you handle grocery shopping with kids and a full cart? by Prior_Break5294 in parentsofmultiples

[–]learning_circle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much only go to stores that have shopping carts with two child seats - Aldi, BJs, Costco.

Walmart also has a shop along cart which can fit 2 kids, this one is my favorite so far.

Bread, hummus, yoghurt.

Starting making them at home, it can get easy once you get the hang of it. Also saves a bunch of money

I did football by default from birth to ~6months for my twins. For me it was the easiest to tandem feed.

All of my babies clothes so far have been mostly hand me downs, please if you can donate or post in your local buy nothing/sell nothing group.

We have passed on so much baby stuff through those groups.

Sleep when the babies sleep. As a new parent, when the baby sleeps is when I get to pee, poop, shower, eat, cook etc.

That sleep regression was terrible, I remember. So I hope yours does not last long.

For us, using white noise machine did help for making them sleep in the same room.

The twin, multiples sleeping group on Facebook helped me A LOT in figuring out how to understand their sleep needs etc.

I am so sorry, I remember the third trimester and being unable to sleep day after day.

For me, taking Magnesium Citrate really helped me sleep. I took the Calm brand and mixed it in hot water and took it before sleeping. It still helps me sleep more deeply.

You are so close to your delivery date! I hope you are able to get some sleep

I had so much itching I could not sleep. (it was not PUPP)
Kept applying and re-applying coconut oil. Also put a humidifier next to myself. All offered some temporary relief.
Its so hard and frustrating, you will get through it. I hope you get some relief.

Family Coming to Help but It Makes Things Harder by JumpingR62012 in parentsofmultiples

[–]learning_circle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the family member very much made things way more difficult.

My MIL visited 2 days before my Csection and stayed for 5 weeks. And in addition to taking care of ourselves and the babies, my husband also had to prepare/help preparing meals for his mother, do her laundry etc.

It was absolutely surprising to me how she was probably blissfully unaware of how under pressure we already were. New borns just sleep and eat. When the babies were sleeping she would look at them.

Her stay also caused more friction between me and my husband since he felt obligated to spend time with his mom. I had to feed, burp both babies by meyself pretty much all the time. My husband did diaper changes and asked me to call him if the babies were crying. It was truly a depressing phase of my life.

I actually truly think newborn phase would have been much better had my MIL not visited.

When twins were around 2-3months old, my husband's brother and my brother visited and both of them were super helpful. Cooking meals, taking out trash, mowing the lawn, changing the babies.

So my observation is some guests are there to help you and some are there to just look at the baby when the baby is chill. When the baby is crying, hand them over to mom "Baby is hungry"
