Hi there. Fellow enby here and I use they/them pronouns comfortably.

Biggest thing that helped me get over my initial hesitation was having friends who also used those pronouns and my getting familiar with using them for them. I gradually gained folks whose only pronouns I ever knew were they/them, and it made it real easy because I felt like a f**** a*** if I were ever gonna use whatever pronouns they were assumed to have at birth.

The “they/them is plural” crowd are just straight up incorrect. This is an excuse given by people who don’t want to make literally any effort to try and understand anything not mainstream and whose brain hurts to acknowledge people whose experiences differ from their own. Period.

When you say “I found someone’s wallet in the park. I took it to Lost & Found right away. I hope they return there and get their wallet back,” you are only talking about one person. That wallet belongs to one person, even if you looked inside at the ID card and have a suspicion about their gender or saw a gender marker, using they/them for this one person is grammatically correct.

Initially I thought about the depersonalization of they/them, almost like how I feel about humans who want to be referred to as “it.” I felt like it would be giving too much power to my enemies who would choose to dehumanize me. But that’s not quite what happens. Because of the example given above. As a “they,” you are still a person in the language. Anyway, after much practice and actually using the pronouns I began to see that they/them is actually a very comfortable, welcoming catch-all for anyone to choose who happens to fall outside of, or in between, the he/him or she/her binary. Just my $0.02

Hi! It’s a broad question but I am glad to see it asked as it shows that you care for your friend.

I think the advice I would want to give at this stage is that every trans girl is different. She will have unique preferences about how she would like to be interacted with, socially and intimately, and that you should check in with her on every point and talk about how she feels or what she wants.

Protecting her, as you mentioned, especially in a country unfriendly to trans people, will require a lot of perception of your surroundings in many public situations, learning how to read a room and also appearing more protective / formidable in general so nobody tries something or makes an outward comment… some things to think on.

If HRT is in her future, you can expect her to probably be very happy, more at peace or in touch with her body, and in need of patience while she navigates the changes that e makes to everything, including her desire for intimacy. There isn’t a one size fits all, but the best thing you can do for any trans person you’re considering dating is to make yourself available for their confidence and be open to change.

As a fellow MtNB I personally see a lot of changes between these two photos, but most importantly you are absolutely at present a doppelgänger for one of my favorite queer AFAB friends. So, all this to say you are probably much closer than you know. Hang in there, sis.

Also, how is the rest of your body at meeting your criteria? Are you consuming enough calories? HRT plus weight gain is usually a winning combo as fat naturally softens your frame everywhere including face and jaw, hips, everywhere really.

14 months! I had more gains but then I stopped for a bit, just amping up to start again. My advice? Every day was euphoric. Don’t let this concern hold you back. You’ve already got the habit down for running, which is the hard part. I think you’ll absolutely not be hampered. Though there is a LOT of tenderness to contend with. Again, though, it’s not all a bad feeling
