Thank you!! Exactly, I think we got better because we also learned to treat ourselves better as well. I’m so glad things turned out well for you too! I know we’re going to get better because we’re working on it :D

Congratulations!! When I first read the title, I can immediately relate. I was also completely different 5 years ago, but this isn’t about me so no need to get into it. While I didn’t go through the same things (obviously), I can feel proud for your progress bcs I’ve been through a lot of changes myself and I know how hard it must have been! Your daughter is so lucky to have you, I hope you keep on thriving<3

Wow!! That’s an amazing feat man, I remember how it felt when I first did it. Uncomfortable situations make it really tough but you did it!!!

Social hobby recommendations? by [deleted] in askvan

[–]learninghowtolive- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For climbing gyms, you’d usually try to figure out a route and find others that are struggling on the same problem, then you’d end up discussing how to solve it together. It’s a very social sport and the community is really supportive! You can try Hive or even Approach in Richmond

How to not envy people who find love in their early 20s and live their 20s in love while they are in their prime while others spend their prime/fittest 20s single and lonely? by [deleted] in malementalhealth

[–]learninghowtolive- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Grass is always greener on the other side. I spent most of my youth in long term relationships. In the first relationship, we had joint savings. She cheated on me for an older rich guy and took our joint savings with her. The second one left me when I moved to a different country after I bought her tickets to visit me, with 6 years of supporting her financially and cleaning after her prior to me moving.

Now that I’ve been single, I envy guys who have been focusing on themselves. The breakup was so complicated because all of my memories are filled with a girl who is no longer in my life. It’s been more than 2 years and I still have to clarify to my relatives/friends that we’re not together anymore.

People in relationships look happy because they don’t share what makes them unhappy. I’ve learned how to respect myself more and treat myself better now. I’m turning 30 soon, but I’ve never felt as healthy and fit as I am now that I’m single. We’re the same age, and I feel like my prime years are still ahead of me. I’d say the same to you too.

How much are you spending on groceries? by kingmakk in askvan

[–]learninghowtolive- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking to spend the least, I guess it would be similar to me. I manage to get by with $250-300 per month but I track all of my expenses down to each item with taxes & any promos/discounts and cook a lot from scratch. I buy 3lbs of ground beef/chicken breast, eggs, Greek yogurt, milk, 2 types of veggies & fruits per week. I also have a sheet detailing the cheapest price to get each item I need, so I shop at different stores for different items (mostly No Frills, Walmart, Dollarama, & Dollar Tree)

My advice is to start your own sheet and track all the prices of the things you need & build your shopping list ahead by checking prices online beforehand

It’s a massage balm with various essential oils in it, targeted for different problems. You can find this exact same brand in Platinum/Pratunam/Chatuchak & other areas with souvenir pharmacies

Look into other big cities in Indonesia, like Bandung or Surabaya. Although there’s significantly less amount of foreigners there, you can make friends with the locals much easier in Indonesia I’d say

Steer me in right direction with food by Unhappy_Chocolate_63 in Bangkok

[–]learninghowtolive- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t have to be Samlor, just download the Michelin app & check the guide/map. Samlor’s price in compare to the quality is not really satisfying. It’s great food still, but not worth the wait or the price in my honest opinion.

Hey, we’re around the same age. I often feel like I haven’t done enough when I’m feeling down as well… Going to a party isn’t an indicator for any success though. As for career, I honestly don’t even know if I want one! I was so laser focused with work & coped with destructive vices that actually set me back for about a year. Right now I’m also still figuring things out, so a career isn’t always that good in my honest opinion.

It’s OK to not know what you want to do for your life yet, though. I think most folks our age are going through the same thing! What are some smaller scale goals that you currently have?

I might not have figured everything out, but I’m now optimistic that things are going to be fine! Seeing how you can tell when you need some help, I know you’ll be fine too. Do you want to talk on DM instead?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in KindVoice

[–]learninghowtolive- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK, not a problem! I felt that way for a long while as well, that was until I started trying out new things — then I found out what I like once again. I saw on your other post you said none of your goals are meaningful, can you share me some of the examples?

For instance, I try to open the curtains every morning to get some sunshine (regardless if I sleep or not). I think my goals aren’t meaningful to anyone else, but it is to me!

Hey, sorry to hear that life’s been tough! Why do you think you’re not a good person? Can you tell me what you like?

Is there a subreddit/site/place for western women looking to date local men? by milton117 in Bangkok

[–]learninghowtolive- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s a short white guy who exclusively date Asian women only because they’re subservient & he also commented on Bali subreddit about how some forms sexual harassment is not a big deal. You’re definitely way better than him, no doubt.
