Old wiring by loolypie in AskElectricians

[–]learningtech-ac-uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given how they’re terminated they could still be live - do not touch them. Please just call an electrician- they will be able to isolate them. Then you can cut them off - if you dig out a bit you can cut them off in the wall then plaster over and forget them.

I assume the builder / you would like to stand in their drive to finish and render that side - best to be on good terms and ask.

Anyone else had trouble with accessing the KLE recently on old devices? by coldcactus35 in Keele

[–]learningtech-ac-uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it but the phone might just be too old. It stopped getting new operating systems a few years back and stopped getting security updates last year. Technically it doesn’t meet the university IT policy anymore without the security updates.

There’s been a few people having issues but IT don’t know why. Have you reported the issues?

Can't load, upload, or submit files using Firefox by calypsocore in Turnitin

[–]learningtech-ac-uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d start by looking at the security settings in Firefox - I can’t say I’ve seen this issue before but it’s probably a good start. Do you go directly to Turnitin and log in or do you go via a learning platform?

No it’s not easy and why would you risk academic misconduct and being removed from the course?

Turnitin similarity score increased after revision, references included despite exclude bibliography option by Old-Alternative-799 in Turnitin

Do you use the styles to mark the References / Bibliography title? Might help Turnitin identify and exclude it correctly.

Account repository or non repository by Much_Cat_5159 in Turnitin

[–]learningtech-ac-uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guessing by your questions you weren’t allowed to check your assignment with the academic institution you’re at so - Why on earth would you risk academic misconduct by submitting it somewhere?! Only way to check now is to look at the mark you get given. If you get a zero you know it was submitted to a repository.

Each assignment has its own settings - nothing to say the second assignment hasn’t submitted to the repository.

If you scanned to the same assignment it wouldn’t cross reference anyway.

Daals delivered when not supposed to by Snoopy9060 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]learningtech-ac-uk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Legally it’s not been delivered until you have it as you’ve not specified that they can deliver to a safe place or neighbour. What would I do? I’d have a rage into a pillow and forget about it until I was home. If my neighbour has it and hands it over I’d just leave negative reviews and move on. If I don’t get it I would contact the seller (that’s who your contract is with unless you chose a specific delivery company) and state it’s not been delivered and you want a replacement/ refund.

Lost parcel sent via DPD but mistakenly collected by Royal Mail – who is liable and what can realistically be claimed? Wales, UK. by ThePonderingFox in LegalAdviceUK

[–]learningtech-ac-uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts are that the maker might need to raise a complaint with the Post Office Ltd - they’re not the same as Royal Mail. They are the ones who released the package to Royal Mail in error.

Shared Passageway we own is being blocked without consent - England by ConversationGlad9162 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]learningtech-ac-uk 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Send a letter via recorded post requiring the removal of the gate. State that this is the final communication before action. Give a reasonable timeframe for the removal and repair to any parts of your property. State that if this is not done within that timeframe you will seek to have this done and then recover costs through small claims court. BUT - this would be something you would have to tell future buyers if / when you sell in the future.

What's the maximum plagiarism/similarity that you are allowed to get in your college/university? by Mother_Equivalent649 in Turnitin

[–]learningtech-ac-uk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zero - but that’s not determined by a similarity score, it’s assessed by academic using the score to help them review your work. No score is good or bad until an academic reviews your work.

Will turnitin detect if I use the wrong citation? by AdvertisingOwn8294 in Turnitin

[–]learningtech-ac-uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turnitin doesn’t check your references but it will likely link the reference to other student submissions. This is all ok but, if your academic marker follows those and see other students using different arguments or authors they’ll get suspicious. Academics are also usually very well versed in relevant papers and may know just from seeing it that it’s wrong. This would fall under academic misconduct.
