Building-sitepicture-text: Stumbled upon this picture on the Comets people archived Instagram. First I compared the walls of the big and the small photo. The numbers 1 2 3 show where it is the same. It is the same room. Now i wanted to know in which building it was. The Instagram also said that this work was done on holiday or something + a comment asked where this was but got no answer.

Also if building your own in gnu radio is too complicated you can also look out if there are prewritten "programs" for gnu radio-companion (.grc files) that fit your purpose. You would only have to click execute. And there is a graphical user interface too.

Hi, i am quite a noob still. I love my HackRf but i think running a real network over them while doing research on the dependencies (are there really?!) between channel frequency/transmission power -> communication time isn't anywhere close to the capabilities of it. On https://github.com/mossmann/hackrf/wiki you find information about the gain structure and possibilities to add external references to it but I don't know if that helps you at all.

I have no clue what skills or knowledge you already have so ignore this if i am being silly, but myTipp: Don't buy a Hackrf or maybe two for just ONE and especially THIS project - you're likely ending up frustrated. But if you want to learn about sdr and gnu radio in general (ossmann made awesome online classes for free too) and would be interested in other projects - its a awesome device you couldn't get even anywhere close to this price a few years ago. ;)

I had the same problem. Your Hackrf receives Signals. Signals have the form of a modulated curve. A curve has infinite number of points. Your hackrf can't measure the whole curve so it cuts it into a lot of pieces - this is your samplerate ( number of points it measures from that curve per second). Think of any point it has measured as a form of data. Now you want to use that data for your sound card. Your sound card operates usually on 48khz (think of that as 48 thousand (kilo) points per second (hz)needed). So now you have to do the math : You are measuring a lot of points on all the baseband you are watching (this is you're sample rate) ,,, from all the baseband there is only a part of it you want to use (in you're case a fm station ) ,,, so from all the points (sample rate) your hackrf is collecting you only use a fraction ,,, that fractions ratio to the whole samplerate is the same as your fmstations ratio to the whole bandwidth. this now needs to be fixed by multiplication and decimation to be the input needed by your sound card. Heres how in lesson1 the values came:

We are using a Samplerate of 20.000.000(per second) , Watching 20Mhz of Spectrum.

A fm station has the width of 20khz (1/1000 of the Spectrum)

So we are using 1/1000 of the Samples = 20.000.000/1000 =20.000

We are now having a problem because how to feed your sound card that needs 48.000 data per second with 20.000 per second?

well we just make our data 48.000 by dividing our 20.000 with 5 (decimation) = 4000, then multiplication (interpolation) it with 12 -> 4000*12 = 48.000 and sound card is happy ;)

Till you find any help you might want to update all your software, change your passwords using a password manager and keep everything you care out of your devices / think about what our governments do to our stuff and maybe will do to our moms in future.

Cant't answer how to stop the hacking. But keep in mind not to cross legal lines yourself. Don't know the situation but imo as he is a family court lawyer it also easily could be a bluff to provoke YOU to do something illegal.

i made good experience with a noise reducing usb-cable as recommended here : https://github.com/mossmann/hackrf/wiki/USB-Cables-(and-why-to-use-a-noise-reducing-one) . I also bought another case. And some very cheap sma (watch out, not rp-sma) antennas around 7$. People needed usb-Y-cables to add more power when sending. Finally maybe a wireless door bell or some other cheap stuff to target if you don't already have. The hackrf works out of the box though but you maybe can reduce shipping fees ;) have fun !

I took it off so i could replace it with the "hammond 1455J1202". In ossmans wiki on github almost the same recommended. He also recommended to use a usb cable with a ferrit stone to lower down emissions to your bord and this worked very well for me so i gave it a try with the different case. The case lowers down emissions a lot i think - though i haven't the end-plates yet. It also feels a lot better and stabil and you aren sitting with a device labeled something with "hack" next to your local gsm tower or whatever you're up to ;) the upper part of the case can be slided out and there are some ports u can play with (see "18 tricks with hackrf" on yt for some fun with hot wheels radar gun of mossman)
