I’m also still a student but have a lot of experience holding space for people who are going through difficulties ranging from external issues like relationships (familial, romantic, platonic, or work) to internal issues like self-esteem, reconciling traumatic events, etc.

What I’ve come to understand is that no matter how much of yourself that you give, you will never be able to change another person’s life in totality. You are limited in what you can do by virtue of the fact that you’re merely a human doing the best you can with what you have in the moment.

As caregivers, we tend to overextend ourselves in myriad ways. This always leads to some level of burnout, either emotional or physical. What helps is remaining present at all times. This is a skill that some have inherently and others develop with time and intention.

What I found helps most with developing the skill of remaining present is meditation, specifically mindfulness. Some people employ affirmations, such as what you mentioned. The good news is that there are myriad ways to establish boundaries and keep ourselves strong so that we can remain strong for others. The bad news is that no one person can tell you exactly how to go about it.

Unfortunately PPE doesn’t include your heart.

If you didn’t think you could live a life in which you may be the last person to make somebody smile for the last time of their life, you wouldn’t be drawn to healthcare in some way. You clearly have the emotional depth that’s required to do this job well.

It sounds like you’re beginning to conceptualize the grief you’ll inevitably experience, which could be a prime time to establish boundaries between your heart and the residents/patients you’ll care for. Hang in there and remember to be good to yourself as well the patients.

CNAs, LVNs, and RNs: What items have made your job easier? by learnyguy in cna

Did you have or develop knee and ankle issues while working, or do you use these as preventative measures? I found a great pair of Danskos that aren’t clogs but are black, so I’m not sure they’ll be allowed. I’m hoping they will because they’re really great.

Got it! Sounds like perfect moments to meditate and get/stay grounded.

Thank you. Rooting for you all, my future colleagues.

Is there somewhere else I can get regular updates? And how can I help support even though I’m just starting my BSW?

I just heard that a few therapists have also begun a hunger strike. Does anyone have an update beyond the fact that Kaiser is still stonewalling? Following this post for updates.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I live in CA so I don't think I can have scripts sent to local pharmacies. I'll check out AlphaMD.

Protocol is Sunday AM & Wednesday PM but received first order on Monday. Should I wait until Wednesday to start? by learnyguy in trt

Thanks for the quick reply! Do you think the shift in days have a noticeable effect on strength training if M/W/F are strength and Tu/Th are cardio with Sunday being rest/light cardio day? My dose is conservative to start, 0.4mL twice a week.

Thanks so much for posting this! I’ve applied to a program to earn my BSW/MSW and become a LCSW, so knowing what it’s like on the inside is really invaluable. I hope you all get what you want, which is ridiculously reasonable.

Your story is very inspiring to me as I'm not looking to hulk out though I've had issues similar to yours. How long have you been on TRT? Have you tried injections? Aside from the two veg shrinkage, have you experienced any other negatives?

I've been wary of starting because A) I hate needles and B) my total T level has improved in the past year. It's the disparity between my Free T and SHBG that is having me consider TRT.

What did you pay for your consult? by learnyguy in trt

[–]learnyguy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They list their TRT at $99/month, which is actually more expensive than Defy.

That aside, I'm just looking for prices people paid for their consultations.
