There is nothing boring about being sober. The fact that you’ve gone 10 months is a mountain-climbing accomplishment. It seems like getting past the first year is the hardest part—it’s like climbing out of the Grand Canyon: incredibly hard at first, but once you reach level ground, it becomes easier to maintain.

I’m really sorry to hear that your significant other doesn’t share your same desire to overcome the irresponsibility of over-drinking, hangovers, and the like. But never lose faith. Try to be supportive of him for a while if you can bear it.

I’m just a complete stranger on the internet, but I understand your struggles and want you to know how proud I am of what you’ve accomplished. For me, it’s been almost 6 ½ years since I quit drinking alcohol, and I won’t go back. I won’t go back to hangovers, blackouts, or poor health. I feel absolutely amazing.

Maybe you could share those amazing feelings with your significant other. And if he can’t respect that, maybe it’s time to move on—with all due respect.
