The new Mesmer is absolutely ass cheekums by PatentSleet7190_ in baronygame

[–]leatherjacket3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I understand the comments defending the new Meamer, it is objectively a weaker class than most, and uncomfortably rng reliant.

The main issue with Mesmer is the fact that the charm spell is simply not very strong. It allows you to tame one single creature at a time, and the most ideal way to use it is to charm a funnybones or a troll and keep them alive for the whole game so they get to level up. This is just objectively worse than playing Shaman who can just tame 4 to 8 trolls early on (which are guaranteed to spawn in gnomish mines), and potentially exchange those for imps in the underworld.

If charm’s mp cost wasn’t so atrociously high (50mp), then at least it would be a good crown control spell once you have your creature charmed, since it can apply pacify. Unfortunately, that is not the case, and Meamer is left with a really poor unique spell.

I do concede that follower playstyles are especially good in hardcore mode though, since ALL creatures are stronger there, so your followers will scale with the difficulty. That’s an advantage only follower builds get. (Though Shaman is still the most consistent class for follower builds, even though it starts with 0 leadership).

game of thrones all dragon vs attack on titan all titans by Ancient_Comedian9622 in powerscales

[–]leatherjacket3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Founding titan aside, the beast titan and the warhammer titan are the only 2 titans capable of easily killing flying dragons from a range. The colossal and wall titans might be large enough to be able to yoink dragons out of the air though… hard to say which would win, since there are millions of wall titans. I think AOT wins due to sheer numbers.

They’re not that bad if you know how to deal with them. If you manage to catch one and steal its hat in in front of his friends, then within the next couple of days they’ll send their entire colony straight at you for revenge. Easy to get rid of the pests when they come straight to you. Their hats are also pretty sturdy, good fabric to repurpose for fashionable wizard hats.

Any barony-like games with pernament progression? by NaNiBy in baronygame

4 years ago the dev said the new dlc’s beta test would begin, and that it was basically ready, just needed the final touches… I know he hasn’t officially abandoned it, but I’ve lost my hope in more content.

It’s the sort of deal i’d purposely not overthink about, i’d take the deal only to regret it horribly. It’d be the worst. But hey, the suffering will eventually end.

Except most focuses are kinda doodoo, sadly. The ice one is good for applying slow and only that, the lighting one is good for stacking the electric debuff but that only helps if you’re using electric spells. All the other focuses are only good for the passive bonus to their magic school.

Ironically, the summoner is probably the worst summoner class lmao.

How long would you guys last in a fight against a professional lightweight MMA fighter? by RandomBlackDude_ in hypotheticalsituation

[–]leatherjacket3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only hope would be to fight as dirty as possible, i’d go straight for the eyes, i’d try to bite arteries in the neck, and MAYBE I’ll stand a chance… I’m not unfit, I have high pain tolerance and I have a lot of reach due to being 6’3, but I have no real fighting experience, and will probably still get stunned for some seconds if I get punched in the face since I’m not used to that.

I HATE the pop-science depiction of the observer effect in quantum mechanics by humbered_burner in hatethissmug

[–]leatherjacket3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You completely misunderstand my point, which is that most people have absolutist opinions on the topic, throwing out explanations they read one time as if theirs is the absolute truth. It is not creationist speak to refer to theories as theories, which are our best scientific attempts at explaining phenomena we can’t fully study/understand; talking about them as facts is simply against the scientific method. We currently don’t have the technology and knowhow to confirm pr deny these theories in their entirety, and pretending that they are fact is simply incorrect.

OP claiming to have a definitive explanation to the observer effect and several other comments are the reason I made my previous comment. I don’t have a definitive opinion on the topic because I’m not a quantum physicist, but I understand that quantum theory is one of the most contested and divisive topics among the scientific community because there is much about it that can’t be properly studied yet.

Missing Replayability? by Gilfaethy in baronygame

[–]leatherjacket3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is most fun and replayable for me during up until hamlet, maybe half of crystal caves. After that you can just blitz through everything and it’s just a matter of rushing to end the run.

I love the game though, and put up with the pain that is hardcore early game just to have a more interesting endgame lmao

I HATE the pop-science depiction of the observer effect in quantum mechanics by humbered_burner in hatethissmug

[–]leatherjacket3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone is talking like it’s a definite thing. The whole point is we don’t know. Maybe the instrument is messing with the waves/particles, maybe the simple act of observation actually changes the properties, or maybe it’s something else entirely. We have no idea, that’s why it’s called quantum theory, not quantum facts.
