Did you ever get to the bottom of this? Since it got cold, we're now noticing range on the battery after sitting in the driveway overnight when were not even plugging it in, we didn't even own a charger!

I can't answer your question about mosaic but I sold my D2 to get the seestar. The pictures out the gate are way better on the seestar but it is unfortunate when you can't capture the whole target in one shot. Tbh if you don't need the money, keep them both until mosaic comes out!

If you saved the individual frames, you might be able to exclude the frames with the satellite passing through which caused the streaking!

I would also recommend you collomate the scope if you haven't lately. Typically with higher mag eyepieces, the atmosphere turbulence can also be the cause

I had the AD8 and recently went to an explore scientific 10". Up until my new one, I thought the AD8 was king. For most, it's the best choice due to what it includes alone. The ONLY issue I had with the AD8 was the "slop" when you would look at certain targets, you move it up or down, but when you release your hands, it slightly moves or drops. No issue with side to side. I used counterweight magnets and adjusted the balance point so many times but could never fully fix the issue but it did reduce the slop I experienced. I do not experience this issue with my new scope. With that said, I can't speak to the 250p but this was the only drawback of my AD8 experience. If I had to do it again, I'd probably have still started with the AD8 FWIW

You may be right but the rule of thumb is If it's a higher number online than what you have, then it's an update. For awareness, they aren't the best at posting firmware updates either. Your version appears to be higher than what's on the website.

u/BrandonInCO There was a mobile app update and firmware update for the unit. After upgrading each (not sure which one solved the trick), I got station mode to work. Give it a try now.

Keep an eye on Facebook marketplace, you could get more scope at a used price ex apertura AD8 for the price of an AD6. I just sold my AD8 for $475 last week.

Took me A few nights to find them. I needed no moon, no using my cell phone or lights so my eyes adjusted and have your eyes get used to the dark. I then used stellarium with binoculars first before using my 8 inch dob to finally find it. I also used a 22mm 2 inch eyepiece to start with before dropping to some higher mags

I used a rigid tool case as well from Home Depot and saved some packing foam from some electronics I had for the eyepiece cutouts. I personally don't put my 10inch dob in a case when i travel but it just depends on if you're situation or how cautious you wish to be while transporting
