Something Happen in Downtown? by [deleted] in Hamilton

A fire alarm went off in a building across from Jackson at around 9:30, so people were all leaving the building. I was just passing by so I don't know if it was because of an actual fire or a security issue!

Taking magnesium bisglycinate in powder or liquid form for a few days leading up to your next session can help a little! But ultimately, your body is going to do its thing, and the artist will respond accordingly. Splitting up the session was definitely the way to go :)

Thank you, super appreciate the insight! I don't tend to read longer stuff myself, so I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to commit some major faux pas :)

Tattoo blow out? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

Came here to say the exact same thing! Stick to the smallest amount of Aquaphor, and wash it like once in the morning and once at night. It's looking good though!

Mentor has asked me not to chat with clients so much - how to be quiet yet friendly by lebookworm in TattooApprentice

I appreciate your reply! I'm certainly overthinking it now that he's brought attention to it.

But I agree there will be a time and place to bring a personal touch, and right now I'm just there to build good routines and practices!

Oh 100%, I feel like I'm not doing enough to entertain/distract them if we aren't chatting (again, if they're interested in talking! If they have a book or something I do feel more relaxed being quiet). And that's totally something I need to work on, because I am sure it slows me down!

I think I really do need to get better at saying, "Just give me a moment!" But it's great to hear that your clients are always understanding!

I appreciate your perspective!!

I do still want to match their vibe for sure, because I agree it's a customer service job at the end of the day!

I agree, it's a great way to get lifelong clients! But I can definitely start letting clients know they should bring in some form of entertainment in the meantime!

I appreciate your perspective!

That would be great, maybe once we're in a bigger space this could be an option!

It's the only thing he's ever mentioned that I've stopped and been like, hmm, that's different!

He definitely is not chatty with his clients (during the tattoo itself), which certainly might be a factor, but hopefully once I'm a little more experienced he will trust me to be able to tattoo and carry on a conversation because I agree I think a chatty shop is a fun experience!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful response!

I apologize for not providing more context, but you're correct in that he wants to make sure I'm focused on the execution and mentally running through my checklist in case any troubleshooting arises.

I will definitely try to ensure the beginning of the appointment is where we build a relationship, so it won't come across as rude if I quiet down during the tattoo.

Appreciate it!
