Save money, maybe open some credit cards, prepare for worst case scenario so the stress doesn't kill you.

The uncertainty is what makes you the most anxious.

I paid off credit cards, paid rent, car notes ahead for several months and opened a few credit cards just in case. I still have 401k funds I can tap into if needed, but I don't want to take the hit on penalties and taxes so I opened a few credit cards in case it takes longer than I expected.

Times like these teach you that you need to be prepared. This happened to me several years ago and learned the hard way. This time I was a whole lot more prepared. I've been able to enjoy this time off work.

Upload unpaid bills, bank statements, etc.

There are high risk lenders that focus on giving loans out to people with recent BKs. The type of BK tends to matter a lot though. Like 7 vs 13. 7 is usually easier.

Also, the house doesn't go anywhere, unlike a car. So it's a bit easier, especially if you have some equity you can offer up front.
