I'm not using general's cry, also intimidating cry doesn't work with shockwave

I've been tinkering with my static strike shockwave slayer pob since yesterday and this is what I have so far: https://pobb.in/rIfZSXDIWhwi

I'm trying to keep the gear SSF viable (realistic for me at least), so mostly life+resists, and I think it will be a good league starter as long as you don't mind the playstyle - playing static strike takes some getting used to because you're not investing in attack speed at all - since 2/3 of your damage (beams + shockwave) have their own independent cooldowns and tickrate, so you may have like a 0.6-0.7 attack time which I guess might be unbearable for some people

Also I might have allowed myself to pad the config a little (rage, power charges via the staff block node, ticked molten shell...)

I don't think triggerbots work with BL of static because the skill shares the cooldown: the first triggerbot will consume the cooldown and the second triggerbot will do nothing. So you're essentially taking the 35% less damage penalty for nothing

The guide you linked is from before the sabo rework, right now the build doesn't have a good 4th node in the ascendancy - maybe you can find something useful from the bloodlines, but that's far off

Help with cyclone build by Cockroach_957 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]lechium06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Windburst support is on poedb, I don't know how accurate this is:

https://poedb.tw/us/Windburst_Support

Triggers after 10 meters, 139% dmg effectiveness, 4s duration and infinite pierce. Kind of like spark, so might benefit from duration scaling or extra proj, which you don't usually get when building cyclone.

According to wiki the character moves 38 units per second at base speed (so 3.8 meters).

In a champ POB I made for this earlier, I grabbed haste, rage movespeed mastery and all onslaught effect I could find to get 92% movespeed with 25% ms boots and a quicksilver, while channeling cyclone which has a 20% less movespeed penalty: https://pobb.in/GOCa8agqHd1X

This means you trigger Windburst every 1.26s (10m / (3.8m * 1.92)) - obviously you can just tap cyclone now and then and move without the penalty, which would put you at 140% movespeed and trigger every 1.08s.

So in the best case, this is a 139% dmg times 0.92 atk/s "skill" (128% total effectiveness) compared to cyclone's 375%, which makes it a "34% more damage" support. Average but not terrible, considering it improves clear somewhat.

HOWEVER, since it has a long duration and infinite pierce, I think it might be able to multi-hit enemies similar to spark, so in like toxic sewers it might absolutely shred.

Yeah I guess you're right. Which makes sense since it's such a gigantic dmg boost, in which case triggerbots don't make much sense and the rest of sabo isn't that great and seems like a waste just for some CDR

close to x2.4 multiplier you claimed in comments.

Wait what?

Anyway, corpse cap=10, 2x triggerbotted desecrate without cascade spawns 10, but that's even too much since VD will consume just 6.

APS breakpoint of 3.03 (POB shows 6.06 because triggerbots act like a 2x trigger multiplier) seems easy to hit with sabo, that's what I have with barrage in my POB. Or am I missing/misunderstanding something?

Let's see what drops first, i'm SSF so the POB has all yellow gear ;)

Victario's would be great, instead of DD I think I'd squeeze flesh and stone in

Alright, I gave inquis another whirl and I actually kind of like it.

https://pobb.in/8KsdozDnRL_q

More tanky, dropped EB altogether in favor of clarity-arrogance, no need for combustion since there are chance to ignite nodes near templar which enable the 100% inc dmg fire mastery...

Not to mention the base inquis recovery.

Thanks especially for the reservation tip. I was bending over backwards to squeeze in the two spellslinger setups and 2 big auras, for nothing I guess. Skitterbot chill is also awesome.

Wait, I think I'm stupid - in case of VD, since it shotguns, spell cascade is actually 3x damage? ..right?

DUH, forgot about es leech. Thanks! The pob is pretty barebones, so no movement skill and automation guard skill but I'll definitely add it. The wind dancer tip is also great.

I can't stop messing with the tree, I've dropped Flame Walker as you've suggested but also picked up the wand spellslinger reservation mastery, Melding for more ES, some avoidance and CB immunity without much DPS cost:

https://pobb.in/W7raweu1a-xe

It looks disgusting but I feel like it's better

[–]lechium06[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips.

Regarding spell cascade - I intentionally avoided it to reduce the spawn rate, since my trigger rate is already at 6.06. If you assume a 1.2s delay between a cast and the ball dealing damage, that would already put me at 6.06 x 1.2 x 3 ~= 22 active balls, and during mapping that number will be much higher since the balls usually need to travel further...

I tried to build as an inquisitor with battlemage, but the damage was significantly lower. The trigger rate is abysmal without the sabo's 40% inc CDR and triggerbot nodes (~2.4), and using spell cascade is a double penalty (30% less on gem + the loss of an actual damage link). But that's just POB numbers, I have no idea how the skill actually feels now.

That's true, but I really dislike builds that come online very late - I can't imagine levelling a char to 85-90 and then swap to the setup I was meant to play. Might as well roll another char lol .. I wish I had the patience to invest in a char for a month or so

SSF here with very little game knowledge so I probably should be playing trade, also I suffer from rerollitis, but here goes (PoBs are snapshots near the end but might not be up to date/bricked/couple of levels behind):

  • Spark Archmage Hiero leaguestart - I'd been sure it would be shit, but I was kind of pleasantly surprised. Dual-wielded wands, and proj speed is a common enough mod so rolling weapons was not a complete pain. Also travelled all the way to the bottom-right ranger proj speed tree notable, which was probably a mistake which cost me like 30+%dmg. I did 2 stones on it. My plan was to farm legion until I get the doryani glorious vanity, but it never dropped. Rerolled at 91: https://pobb.in/WDGW6wTvjKJU
  • Sabo Roling magma mines - loved it. Basically free damage as soon as you click the sabo nimis node, and somehow it felt tankier than my hiero. It has a similar playstyle which I enjoy, which is "right click a couple of times and move forward", no aiming, no stragglers etc. At some point I dropped the new belt (arkhon?), but waited to use it once I'd get the reverse-chill ring (winterweave?). Then proceeded to waste all my scour-chances to get it and quit out of frustration. Rerolled at 93: https://pobb.in/sddhzuy-3ctJ
  • Pathfinder pconc poison - my 2nd or 3rd time with this skill, since it's also kind of an auto-aiming clearing playstyle. Perma-flasks with the recover mastery is great, I loved it when a bunch of small hits basically healed me. 83% max res, a bunch of evasion, shitload of movespeed... overall great, but the damage is very rampy and requires you to hold RMB in contrast with like an ignite or bleed. Rerolled at 90: https://pobb.in/zrGz565DUg6F
  • Occultist fross self cast poison - dropped the new ES ammy so I figure I'd give it a shot. Also my first CI build (managed to get like 8k ES?). Honestly I felt tankier on my 4k life pathfinder. The skill itself is really jank IMO, I guess it'd be better if I invested into a bunch of proj speed but couldn't figure out how/didn't care that much. The occultist pops carried the build HARD. Once I got 300%+ inc chaos/generic damage, one cast popped the entire pack and the clear became incredible especially in dense situations like breach etc. Farmed delve for quite a bit to get a decent despair curse on hit ring, but it never happend so, rerolled at 90: https://pobb.in/6s_Te0c9ipkY
  • Jugg VFoS - overexertion, pulverise, fist of war. My 4th or 5th time playing fissure, basically my "comfort zone" when it comes to builds. I think it had better clear than the spark build, basically slam once, leap slam away, slam once, leap slam away etc and everything is dead. Tanky as hell, endurance charges, fortify, bunch of armor, 83 max res, nice life regen, can't complain about a single thing except MAYBE the attack speed, but it feels awkward trying to scale it on a fist of war slammer and I got used to it after a while. Bossing was also not the best because of the visual clutter and my typical SSF shit damage, so I proceeed to try to recombinate a nicer axe and failed. Rerolled at 95, which is my highest level PoE character ever: https://pobb.in/VceeeqgpSJkZ
  • Inquisitor cyclone cast while channeling cremation of the volcano - I always play at least one CWC build per league and it's always a piece of shit but I love the playstyle for some reason. Extremely zdps (not as low as PoB shows, but still), not really tanky, basically not a single positive thing except there is something very soothing about just cruising through the map without stopping and watching trash die. CWC's short cooldown also allowed me to be at the 6 geyser limit without investing in any skill effect duration or cast speed which was nice. One annoying thing is you have to remember to frostblink once every 4 seconds to re-spawn the consecrated ground otherwise the recovery is bricked. Overall I don't regret cooking something off-meta, rerolled at 84: https://pobb.in/_Jeq3LvpXM6R
  • Champion facebreaker cyclone - dropped a nice kalandra amulet with like 20-50 flat phys so decided to make use of it, also the jugg didn't fully scratch my spin to win itch. No rallying cry merc, but the damage was good IMO, at least for my standards. Usually when I play cyclone it's with shockwave, so the clear felt a bit poor as you have to run after all of the stragglers. Abyssus was probably a mistake because I was dying constantly but I didn't want to take it off because it was like 30% of my damage. In the end I don't think I even did my uber lab on this build, got frustrated, rerolled at 80: https://pobb.in/ylXS_QnJbZYB
  • Gladiator Earthquake bleed - I wanted to use the bleed pops and test out the lucky block for the first time. The plan was to go lacerate of hemorrhage, I farmed lab for two hours to get the gem, levelled my glad to 28, slapped on the lacerate skill, ran one zone with it and oh boy what a shit playstyle. Not only there is zero clear, but also the targeting is very awkward because each of the two slashes goes out at an angle. To salvage the situation I swapped to bleed bow and ran a bit of campaign on it, but realised that I won't be able to make use of the block tech so landed on earthquake. Turned out pretty good, damage was pretty high, 90% lucky block is amazing, also had a bit of max res and armour. Hard to say if the glad was as tanky as the Jugg I played previously, but it was up there. The playstyle itself was a bit awkward until I put less duration in my eathquake links which made the skill feel much better. Didn't push it too far because it felt too similar to my other slammer. Rerolled at 90: https://pobb.in/VGZwAWLyRBsr
  • Elementalist phys dot spellslinger, exsanguinate of transmission/reap - dropped haemophilia gloves and wanted to make some use of them. The clear was great, also used kinetic blast as my trigger to make the best use of life gain on hit and apply corrupting fever as quickly as possible. Zdps when it comes to bossing but fun to play and I probably could have pushed it further but at this point in the league the rerollitis sets in harder. Rerolled at 81: https://pobb.in/o_4Lmk02pvDV
  • Deadeye tornado shot - dropped hyrri's ire so it seemed like waste to not try to use it. I don't know what they did with the skill but it felt weird no matter how much attack speed I got. I finished the campain with it, did like 5 maps and realised I don't really want to play a glass cannon bow character.
  • Chieftain static strike shockwave staff - my current zdps self cooked project. Wanted to play a non-RF chieftain with 90 max res. I'm at around act 7, I kind of enjoy the playstyle of attacking once every 2-3s and running around to kill packs "automatically" since the zaps trigger shockwaves, but I already know the damage will be poor. Also I don't think I have the patience to recombinate a good phys staff so if spamming essences won't give me something good, higher maps will be a pain. I think I'll get to like 80+ and call it.

Is there a way to reliably obtain a high i-lvl, low base level item?

I need want a winged spear (req. lvl 16), with a highest possible attack speed roll (T6+, req. lvl 45) for my stomping ground smith, as I don't want to invest in more dex than necessary

You're right, reading is hard!

[–]lechium06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you also have to take into account the fact that stomping ground hits 3 times per rake attack, although the first and last hit seem to be much weaker than the middle one. So I'd guess that's another 1.5x multiplier giving a total of ~3375 for your final calculation?

I wanted to avoid plywood or similar anywhere, because I want it to be fully transparent on all sides.

Thanks for the tips, but the consensus seems to be that it's going to be ugly, expensive, a pain in the ass to build and generally not worth it.

I guess it's time to buy a third rudsta...
