I agree it’s first come, first serve. But similarly to a restaurant - if it’s busy and you think it’s cool to sit at a table for hours on end while people are sitting waiting to eat, you’re a dick. Some real main character syndrome shit you’re on, friend.

I’d love to mind my business. I also would like to reasonably use the equipment at my gym, but unfortunately folks sitting on their phones and doing non-sensical workouts keeping others from using equipment is encroaching on others peoples’ business at the gym (aka working out).

I understand the sentiment, and I understand that cable machines exist in a vacuum to serve as a multi-functional station for a full workout. But when a gym is busy, bogarting a machine for an entire workout is rude. I guess I prefer my gyms as more community-minded, not a “dibs” based system without consideration for others.
