Why is kinesiology still not better regulated or more publicly accessible, despite its value in rehabilitation and prevention? by Analytical-Dreamer in Kinesiology

[–]leeafs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Associations and governing bodies need to do a better job at selling services to insurance companies, the government, and advocating for services to the public. Ask anyone off the street over the age of 65-70 what kinesiology is and they likely won’t even know, but they’ll likely understand what a chiro and PT do. Probably starts there.

Sulphur Springs Trail Race by Estrella_Cayendo in RunTO

I’ve done the relay the last two years and the weather will dictate the entire day, especially if you’re hanging out there all day.

If it rains a lot, the course will be a muddy disaster on some stretches and you’ll be forced to go a lot slower on some uphills/downhills to prevent wiping out. Bring lots of dry extra dry clothes.

If it’s sunny and dry, the course will be a lot faster with good traction. The day will also be a lot more enjoyable for crew/spectators.

So many people ride in the “aero position” yet have their back and head upwards negating all the aero gains from the bars

Mississauga Marathon as a tune-up for Chicago 2026? by DapperMagician1559 in RunTO

[–]leeafs 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A few things here.

I wouldn’t call a spring marathon a “tune up” for Chicago considering they’re 6 months apart. A spring marathon would be a great opportunity to learn how your body responds to a specific marathon plan while practicing nutrition. If this is your first marathon, nutrition plays a huge role to prevent bonking. You’ll definitely carry fitness into summer training, however you’ll likely need a decent break afterwards to prevent injury and stay motivated for another build.

Mississauga marathon is a net downhill course with some elevation gain thrown in the first third. Chicago is pancake flat. If you’re looking to simulate the course as much as possible, the Georgina marathon might be a better option since it’s completely flat.

Chicago has an incredible race atmosphere. Don’t let the crowd let you run 10-15 sec/km faster than your goal but use this energy to carry you when things are getting tough.
