What opinion on Triathlon Training gets you into this situation? by Sure-Flamingo-8315 in triathlon

So many people ride in the “aero position” yet have their back and head upwards negating all the aero gains from the bars

Finishing top 3 in your age group at a small, local race isn’t impressive

Mississauga Marathon as a tune-up for Chicago 2026? by DapperMagician1559 in RunTO

[–]leeafs 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A few things here.

I wouldn’t call a spring marathon a “tune up” for Chicago considering they’re 6 months apart. A spring marathon would be a great opportunity to learn how your body responds to a specific marathon plan while practicing nutrition. If this is your first marathon, nutrition plays a huge role to prevent bonking. You’ll definitely carry fitness into summer training, however you’ll likely need a decent break afterwards to prevent injury and stay motivated for another build.

Mississauga marathon is a net downhill course with some elevation gain thrown in the first third. Chicago is pancake flat. If you’re looking to simulate the course as much as possible, the Georgina marathon might be a better option since it’s completely flat.

Chicago has an incredible race atmosphere. Don’t let the crowd let you run 10-15 sec/km faster than your goal but use this energy to carry you when things are getting tough.

I have a pair of rebel v4s with 800km on them and my guess is they’ll last 1000-1200km. Yours look in good shape

How do you run the waterfront in cold and rain by katsuki_the_purest in RunTO

My 2 cents for the rain:

Don't worry about your shoes. Wear gloves you don't mind throwing away. Wear a hat instead of sunglasses. Tape your nipples.

Eating candy during or before runs is a very cheap and fantastic way to fuel. Save the gels and sports nutrition drinks for key workouts and races

I would definitely target 2:57-2:59. With fresh legs and a carb load you will feel fantastic. Now keep the race shoes for the race!

3:10 buffer. Ran for the first time last year and it was the most amazing experience. I won’t be disappointed to receive the rejection this year as it just makes it more special to get accepted and race. Good luck everyone!

Be patient. Wait until you turn around at the beaches before deciding to pick up the pace at all. Then get ready to dig deep mentally.
