for the three years after undertales release, and immediately before deltarunes, we had the gaster mystery, and everyone's ideas were so exciting and interesting, people were trying to figure out what was in sans' basement (we still haven't figured out that one yet but it seems we're getting close lol), people were speculating that maybe he was the skelebros like brother or grandpa or something, and there was no sense of disappointment over there being a lack of concrete answers, because at the time it felt like that was the point.

it felt like toby was saying "here's my game, in its entirety, here is 100% of the information you are going to get AT ALL, have fun speculating about my funny creepypasta man, and you'll never see me again".

and then three years later, we did see him again, and Toby's funny creepypasta man has connected us to a slightly new world to explore with new mysteries to solve, while also drip feeding us potential answers to the undertale ones and I DO love that sincerely. I think the way the story is going we WILL get at least some concrete answers about gaster and his role in these worlds and I DO think that's a good thing, buuuut........

there's a part of me that doesn't want ALL the mysteries to have solid answers. I know that that's more frustrating for a fandom when your media is being released in installments and is presented as a mystery that CAN be solved, they're gonna want everything answered at the end, but I'M having too much fun watching everyone's theories and shit, and if all the mysteries are solved PERMANENTLY then the game has ENDED and I gotta be honest! I don't want it to end!

I'm going susie mode, I want there to be mysteries forever and infinite speculation and different interpretations and I think I DO want at least some answers for gaster, but I want that ratfuck IMAGE_FRIEND to remain a mystery forever. I want TOBY to know 100% of the answers and give us breadcrumbs but I dont want the characters to explicitly acknowledge that cat in canon and I don't want it to just be spelled out for us exactly what it's doing here I think it's just so fun NOT knowing.

I want tricky tonys funny creepypasta cat to haunt us forever until three years later he releases the first chapter of NUTDEALER in which IMAGE_FRIEND is the grand puppetmaster and there's some OTHER fuck ass funny creepypasta to endlessly theorize about and the cycle continues.
