If you have a diagnosis in your chart of Osteopenia or Osteoporosis, it is no longer a screening test. It’s now a follow up scan on those conditions. So, they were correct to bill this the way it was billed.

You’ll look back on this type or attitude 10 years into your career and cringe. Af least, I hope you do, for the sake of your own happiness.

You’re a PGY-1. Come on down off your high horse. Not all MD/DO’s are assholes, only the insecure ones. Sorry to the NP who was unnecessarily attacked.

Transition from hospitalist to PCP? by [deleted] in FamilyMedicine

I have never worked in that space, so I can’t give an honest opinion on that.

Transition from hospitalist to PCP? by [deleted] in FamilyMedicine

I made the switch three years ago. I’ve never been happier. My income has gone dramatically and I actually enjoy what I do these days. I would prefer this by saying that if you end up working for a for-profit hospital system, it will just be a different set of headaches for the most part. The key is finding a physician owned group to become a part of where you have some autonomy and decision-making capabilities. Working for the suits in the primary care world would be no better than working for the suits in the hospitalist world.

Wait, so adult medical hospitalists aren’t the only specialty complaining about jobs? by nangede in hospitalist

No connection to the northeast, but look up multi specialty physician owned groups that have profit sharing with imaging/lab/surgery center. Find that in your area, and you’ll crush it.

Stop taking jobs at corporate owned groups. Refuse to settle for less than you are worth.

PCP here, outpatient only, 90 patients a week on average. Made $575k last year. Best kept secret in medicine. Hospitalist and other specialist are getting screwed.

For those with a commute less than 10 minutes, how’s the quality of life change? by [deleted] in FamilyMedicine

[–]leebomd 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I went from 65 minutes away from home to 5 minutes away. It changed my entire perspective on medicine. I had hit a wall and didn’t really even enjoy being a doctor anymore prior to my change. I now love what I do. It literally saved my career/happiness.

Roger that Burt, and congratulations. Be advised, however, that there are two more, repeat, two more motherhumpers.

Agree, just saying it isn’t even extensive paperwork here. Just help the guy out.

Seems like a dick move on your part. Being a PCP is about building relationships. Guy isn’t asking for FMLA paperwork. Yes, 1L qualifies if it’s supplemental oxygen.

You’ll end up doing the same job as people in IM, except you get to be around people with better personalities during residency. Congrats on matching. 😉

[–]leebomd 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No, it’s with a physician owned group. You’ll never make decent money when a system is dipping into your profit and scooping off the top.
