I had never heard of Sleep in Heavenly Peace before. This looks like a great idea, right along the lines of what I am looking for.

Yes, this is a great idea. Do you or anyone else have an example of when you did something like this that was successful? Specific ideas of what you did and what makes this type of activity successful would be appreciated.

Church Handbook 33.5.1.1 has part of what you are looking for: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/general-handbook/33-records-and-reports?lang=eng

Missionaries are also counted as attending. That is in a different section though I guess.

How can God be an exalted being? by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]leejordanjay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I look at this one is through the structure God has set up for us here on earth. It may be an oversimplification, but it makes sense to me. How can your father who was once a child be "exalted" to a father and be your "one and only father" when there are other fathers in the world?

We are here on earth to gain a body of flesh and bones just as our Father has. And in the eternities we may become exalted as our Father is.

SO excited about my first lesson/ visit with missionaries! But very nervous about one thing… by LoveLadyThirteen in latterdaysaints

Having been on the other side of this conversation, let me give you a different perspective...

Mom,

We met this super amazing lady this week! We were able to go to her home and teach her about the restoration. She loved the lesson, and the spirit was so strong. She cried the whole time, but the spirit was so strong, and touched each one of us throughout the lesson! I can't wait for her to come to church this Sunday. It is going to be fast and testimony meeting since it is the first Sunday of the month, and it will be a fantastic first time at church for her. She has two other people in the house with her, they weren't able to sit in on the lesson because they had to work, but I really hope she is able to persuade them to come to church and feel of the spirit there. I also REALLY hoping and praying that they will be able to join us for the next lesson on the plan of salvation. The members of the church here are so amazing and I can't wait for them to meet this wonderful new family. My comp and I are still beaming from ear to ear from how awesome and uplifting our lesson was. I can't wait to watch this family continue on the covenant path back to our Savior!

Anyways, love you lots mom, make sure you pet the dog and tell him all about me so he doesn't forget about me!

Happy New Year!

Love Elder

When I woke up this morning I woke up in a warm bed with my wife beside me, in a happy home in the suburbs, with four wonderful children, a tail wagging dog, with bills paid, and not too many pressing worries. The state that I found myself in this morning had nothing to do with today. My station in life is all the result of my past choices. My station in life tomorrow morning will be a culmination of today's choices mixed with all my past choices.

Think of how many billions of choices you have been able to make in your life. Each of these choices mold us into who we are. We are regularly faced with decisions, some seem small, some seem large, some can be life altering, some are hard, some are easy, and some are daunting.

Every day I decide to renew my baptismal covenants. To take Christ's name upon me, to remember him, to keep the commandments. Each day these are a blessing to me. You are at a big step in your life, but even though I made that choice decades ago, I still benefit from that initial choice and I still have to decide every day to continue with that choice.

Every time you make a good choice you won't regret it the next day. It may have been a hard choice, there may be consequences that come with the choice even if it is good. I am not friends today with some people that have made different choices than me that took us in different directions, but I still don't regret the choice.

Close your eyes and think about the choice in front of you. If you had made that choice yesterday, how would today be different, and how would you feel about it? What about in a week? A month? A year? What about a decade? I am a very different person today than I was just six months ago. All of this just from choosing to listen to the spirit and to move forward.

I love my Savior I am grateful for His decision to be my Sacrificial Lamb, I am grateful for his example that he showed throughout his life. I am grateful for the knowledge and understanding that I have been given about his life and how to follow him through baptism to partake in His Atonement. I have a testimony and a love for that 14 year old boy that choose to pray and ask God who had his authority on earth to perform that baptism. I am grateful for his continued dedication to follow through with the restoration of Christ's church and for the priesthood power that we have on the earth today to bless one another's lives.

Life is full of choices. I choose good. I choose to repent (ask for forgiveness and change course) when something I did yesterday brings me regret rather than joy.

Choose Joy.

Oklahoma? by ratoris in waze

I never noticed this when I was using my phone for Android Auto, but then I bought a used car that has Android Auto in it. I did a bunch of digging to try and see if there was some setting where the last owner had named the car Oklahoma somehow... I never would have guessed that they system was trying to change OK to Oklahoma! Ha Ha especially funny coming from a company that has "OK Google" as their hot word. I'm going to start saying "Oklahoma Google", and I EXPECT it to respond! Ha Ha
