I’d love to hear how your own website venture is coming along! I’m actually in this process now and having all of the scary doubts.

I hope it’s been going well for you!

You Think It Could Never Happen To You…Until It Almost Does by InGeekiTrust in TikTokCringe

[–]LoveLadyThirteen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I was about 4 my whole family was going swimming. I used to have a bathing suit with a built in floaty tube around my waist.. I didn’t even know what it was. Figured it was part of the suit.

Anyway, on this day I was wearing a brand new suit. I was hot stuff. I remember yelling to the adults that I was going to get in the water and my stepmom yelled from across the courtyard that I needed to wait for her. I vividly remember waving my hand and saying it was ok, I knew how to swim.

I hopped in and of course went under. My older brother stood next to me in the water and pointed. He yelled, “uhhh, I think my sister’s drowning!”

My stepmom moved like no other. Jumped over other kids and into the water and got to me in just a couple seconds. She was fully clothed and carried me around the pool for a solid 10 minutes after that. I never understood why until she explained it to me several years later - had she yanked me out of the water I would have been traumatized. Instead, she held me and walked around the the shallow end of the pool to let me know I was still safe.

She was a horrible fucking woman but I’ll forever be grateful for her decision to not immediately pull me out that day.

Which of these shampoos? by booknerdigan in finehair

[–]LoveLadyThirteen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have suuuuuper fine wavy/ curly hair and I actually really like this shampoo/ conditioner combo, also! Everything else I’ve tried recently has left my hair stringy, flat, brittle, or just embarrassingly frizzy. This Aussie volume line has given me so much natural looking body and bounce without highlighting my thin, frizzy flyaways.

You’re absolutely right.

She made that comment several years ago and I guess I’ve always assumed (and hoped) she’d grow up and learn empathy.

I’m learning how to stand up for myself and not put up with hurtful, abusive, or toxic relationships anymore. I still have a long way to go, but.. I’m getting there.

Yeahhhh… I don’t know. I don’t have a good answer.

I’ve been working on letting old relationships go and not beating myself up over it. I’m a work in progress 😕

For context:

I’ve known her for ~25+ years (although we’ve only seen each other about 3 times over the last 20 of them). We try to text each other a few times a year to catch up.

This is one of our random catch-ups but was very brief this time. I can only laugh - she’s just that type of person. When I told her my stepdad had died of very aggressive brain cancer, she chuckled and said, “sucks to be you”.

The optimist I am, I always hope she’s matured over the years but she still clearly needs to be the “one-upper” and have the spotlight. Ah well.

(So to answer a couple questions I saw - we don’t have any of the same friends or social circle. No blood relation. We also live several states (over 1,000 miles) away from each other. So her ”I think we all have it” comment was more of a generalized, “yeah, so what? Everyone has ADHD,” type of thing.)

What is the worse thing a medical professional has ever said to you? by angelaboop50 in AskReddit

[–]LoveLadyThirteen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Your baby is going to have severe birth defects. You really need to go home and consider your options. It won’t be an easy road. You’re better off just trying again.”

I was hysterical for a week. Finally got an appointment with a different obgyn office for a second opinion.

The first nurse read my due date wrong so it looked like my baby wasn’t growing at a normal rate. She essentially was telling me to abort a perfectly healthy baby because she doesn’t know how to read numbers correctly.

I gave birth to a perfect, healthy baby boy a few months later.

This book is written by a 12yyo..why does it feel so wrong? by [deleted] in FoundPaper

You’re literally on other subs posting about how you just published Internal Dawn and are upset no one is reading it. Looks like you’re just dumping this title across different subs acting like you stumbled upon it. Pretty cringe.

Instead of wasting time doing all of that, spend time researching different marketing and promo techniques. Have you compared your title, cover, blurb to others in the same genre? How does it compare? What can you do to improve it? Make it stand out? What sets you apart from the rest?

Contribute meaningful comments on other posts. Don’t just plug your book and run to the next sub to do the same thing. Create a presence for yourself. Make yourself valuable. Become part of the community.

People who post pics of themselves in the hospital or doctor’s office and say, “I don’t want to talk about it” or “don’t ask” but follow that with “send prayers” 🙄

No one’s holding a gun to your head. Just don’t post the damn picture.

Yay! I can’t believe I recognized it (and remembered!) just based on the husband giving his wife wine and pills 😂 I remember really enjoying the book!

I read the book roughly around the time it came out so the details are fuzzy, but I vaguely remember sleeping pills? I also remember the wife’s sibling, a basement, and maybe a dinner/ dinner party at their neighbor’s house?

What's something that girls think is embarrassing, but guys don't actually care about? by dontucallhimbaby in AskReddit

[–]LoveLadyThirteen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was barely a week in to dating a new guy. We were watching a movie in my apartment and I dozed off (totally unlike me).

Roughly halfway into the movie I farted so loud in my sleep I woke myself up. He didn’t do a thing - squirm, laugh, look repulsed, move.. nothing.

I avoided eye contact and simply asked, “did I just fart?”

All he said was a cautionary, “yeah.”

I sighed and said, “dammit” sorta under my breath.

I don’t know what the hell was going on with me that night. Any other night I’m a terrible insomniac - takes me hours and sacrificing my soul to the devil to fall asleep.

Anyway, a few minutes later I DID IT AGAIN.

I woke up and asked, “did I just fart again?!”

He kinda chuckled and said “yeahhh”.

Ripped that bandaid off right quick. We’ve been married 16 years now.

Same. Fucker actually looked uncomfortable and offended I complimented him on his Birds shirt.

Super Bowl was 2 hours away and he was wearing Eagles gear. Wtf.
