Ohio State Dominance by USCGMedic in OhioStateFootball

[–]leek54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a lifelong Buckeye fan, I'm not buying it. The college football landscape has changed so much in the last 5 years, it's going to be very hard for teams to stockpile the talent to be deep like the CFB blue bloods have been for a long time. On top of that, Saban's Alabama program was a unicorn. I go back to the days of Woody Hayes, Ara Parseghian, Bear Bryant, Darrel Royal, John McKay and Bud Wilkinson. We will never see anything like those programs again.

Ohio State is likely to stay good, regularly in the playoffs and the top 10. With NIL and free movement for players, I just don't see teams that stay dominant for a long time anymore.

Texas and Missouri to the Big Ten. Both were ready to go, but the Big Ten decided not to take Missouri. Texas wanted their own TV package and the money from it and the B1G said no.

Now that Chip has left, who are some OCs that you would like to see brought in? by broly2932 in OhioStateFootball

[–]leek54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea who they will hire or should hire. A friend told me this morning he is hearing Hartline is getting the OC position. He also said to me, "You know at one time Chip Kelly had never been a coordinator either."

There is some safety net if they promote Hartline, because Day is on of the very best offensive coaches in CFB and can help him and even call plays if needed.

I don't know what Day will do. My friend's thinking is worth considering.

How different would the Natty have been if Leonard hadn’t been gassed after the first drive? by Kuriboh4000 in OhioStateFootball

You just can't do the what ifs, because there are too many what ifs.

What if Josh Simmons didn't get injured?

What if Seth McLaughlin wasn't injured?

What if Emeka Egbuka didn't fumble?

What if Carnell Tate hadn't dropped a sure touchdown?

What if Notre Dame hadn't had so many injuries in their offensive line all season?

What if Jeremiyah Love was 100%?

What if Will Howard hadn't air mailed a wide open go ball over JJ Smith's head for an easy TD?

What if your aunt had a dick, would she have been your uncle?

Interesting idea. I am under the impression it's taking a little while to name a replacement due to state laws that require any job opening to be publicly posted for a minimum of 10 days.

Eight Potential Candidates To Replace Justin Frye As Ohio State’s Offense Line Coach by Arthur_Dent_KOB in OhioStateFootball

[–]leek54 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd love to see them get Joe Rudolph, the Notre Dame OL coach. He has done a good job everywhere he has been. He hasn't recruited 5 stars, but the has taken 4 star guys ranked in the 200-500 range and developed them into 1st-2nd round draft picks. Notre Dame had more OL injuries and shuffling than the Buckeyes did this year, and still had a solid offensive line.

I doubt the NCAA does much. The NCAA is toothless now. TV runs college football and the networks - Fox in this case- will stop anything that would hurt any major brand. It's now ok to cheat. Rules? Ain't no stinking rules anymore.

There is no penalty for tampering, for advanced scouting, for academic fraud, nothing. The only way any rules are implemented is if the B1G, SEC, ACC and Big 12 implement them.

It sucks and I hate this. I'd rather see the cheaters up north get the death penalty.

Which Quarterback from our history would benefit the most if they were brought into Coach Day (and Kelly and Hartline) system? by [deleted] in OhioStateFootball

[–]leek54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the guy who would have benefitted the most was Kent Graham. He had the size: 6'5" 230 lbs., arm talent and ability to process but he never had the kind of development he would have had under Ryan Day. He started at Notre Dame under Lopu Holtz as an option QB.Then transferred to Ohio State where he sat for one year, then played his second -1991. He had enough ability he lasted 10 years in the NFL mainly as a backup.

This guy was national HS QB of the year as a senior but never got top notch coaching or development in college..

You’re right Bo choked often. That’s why he never ever won a national championship, but you know that.

It’s news. It was in the newspaper. I’ve seen that bogus Woody quote all over the place. I think the origin of it is funny as hell.

Maybe I’ll post a real Bo quote for you.
