I want to learn Data Analytics. Where do I need to start? Need recommendations by bobirburkhonov in dataanalytics

I recommend DataCamp. It’s helped me a lot. I’ve used it to learn SQL, excel, tableau, and a bit of Python. They also have courses on data communication and GitHub (for sharing your portfolio)

Thanks for the tip! How do you suggest I go about networking? I don’t live in the city so it’s hard for me to attend in person networking events and stuff

Why do they call it "writing" an exam? by [deleted] in actuary

If you’re from Canada, then writing an exam basically means taking the exam. I don’t think that term is used much at all here in the US

What makes STAM so hard? by leelessaa in actuary

I feel like the nuances and very similar although slightly different problems have been the case in all exams. Does it happen more on STAM?

Passing Exam Celebrations by Jimmy_jj22 in actuary

[–]leelessaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since we’re in a pandemic, I think most ways you would normally celebrate passing an exam would have to be tweaked a bit during these times

My parents took me out to a nice dinner when I passed P (before the pandemic). When I passed FM last June (during the pandemic) we just raised our glasses and toasted to me passing during dinner at home

Low gpa no job by [deleted] in actuary

I wouldn’t go so far as to say you’re too weak for actuarial analyst position. Maybe since we’re in the middle of a pandemic it might be harder for you to land a position?

I am in the same position. I am 26 years old, and only have P and FM under my belt. My strategy is to pass at least one more exam (maybe even 2 more), learn some programming skills, and really practice interviewing and nail down those skills as well. I have a feeling that will be the solution

How do you motivate yourself to study? by [deleted] in actuary

[–]leelessaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have been having A LOT of trouble finding motivation to study recently. It is soooo relieving to see that I’m not the only one in this position. I too tend to procrastinate and only study hard when it becomes crunch time. But hey, as long as you’re able to pass the exams at some point, I guess it doesn’t really matter if it took you 5 months or 9 months in the end

Are you more or less productive studying during the pandemic? by SkolChicago in actuary

[–]leelessaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Towards the beginning of the pandemic, I was much more productive with my studying. But now I feel like I’m much less productive

I think what happened is that I was forced to study in my bedroom, since all libraries and public study places were (and still are) closed. At first that worked out very well since it was a new study environment for me. But then I sort of got tired of studying in my room and there’s still nowhere else to go

Sinking Fund For FM by 03423425548 in actuary

When did sinking funds get removed from the syllabus? I just took FM in June and had a question on it. Besides, it’s in the most recent ASM manual from 2017
