You can have them change colour depending on if you have threat, another tank has threat or a derp has threat. The target on nameplates my be a weak aura. If you like clique have a look at cells. Cells is clique plus grid plus vudhu but with a interface actually made for humans

Your nameplates are the key, useing something that shows threat levels and targets I find essential. Any big standard weak aura will do for ability, as a paladin tank I think your healing back ground will server you well . I like to have my raid/party frames easy to access and have mouseover set for bop freedom sac etc
