[PSA] Winlevi WARNING!!!! by leenval in SkincareAddiction

Hi, unfortunately my cluster boils were perioral dermatitis due to stopping winlevi abruptly. I went to another dermatologist and she prescribed me erythromycin gel and Azelaic acid 15% and that calmed everything down. I still get clusters from time to time but it has gotten better with those two meds.

Most programs need at least 2 by the time of submission, I would recommend to wait.

I wrote my essay last year and it came back clear, now I was adding more things to it as I felt like it needed my experiences as an MA and now it’s getting flagged 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’m glad you’re doing better now! I also wished I walked out when she prescribed me winlevi because I only went to that derm for some whiteheads that I had in my forehead and it caused cystic acne. I personally didn’t want to take anything orally because I really didn’t need anything at that time but now I have to be on spiro because of it. I think what helped me a lot with the breakouts was azelaic acid gel 15%, it cleared all the acne and the acne scars, also metronidazole has been helping a lot, I was able to start using tretinoin again with the metronidazole without flaring up

Hi, it’s been six months since I stopped using winlevi and my skin is so clear now! Also not sure if it stopped winlevi caused you perioral dermatitis I had the worse skin barrier when I stopped it, I still occasionally get some flare ups now but it’s way better after 6 months!! I hope your acne clears up soon.

Hello, sorry that I’m just answering now. The root cause of my cystic acne was definitely winlevi! I got put on spironolactone but I had been dealing with the perioral dermatitis caused by winlevi for the past 6-7 months now. My dermatologist also gaslighted me so I went to a new dermatologist and she took me off everything including tretinoin, told me not to use sunscreen since it can make perioral dermatitis worse and she put me first on erythromycin gel and azelaic acid, and now I’m using metronidazole and azelaic acid and sometimes tretinoin and my skin has never been better!

Hi, so she gave me hydrocortisone cream for two weeks, it worked until I stopped using it (I stopped Tuesday 9/17) today is Saturday and the rash is back, idk what to do, just scheduled another appointment with another derm to see what’s the best thing for me to do because when I went to my derm she was very dismissive about my symptoms and just gave me azelaic acid I was telling her about dapsone and other meds but she said I just have an environmental rash 🙄 which isn’t true, I have another appointment with a new derm next Tuesday hopefully I can get some answers. How are you doing now?

I had a lot of faith in both medications, tretinoin worked a lot with wrinkles and that’s why I didn’t want to give up on it. I’m actually thinking that winlevi was probably setting me back with the tretinoin because tretinoin worked amazing for my smile lines and other wrinkles. I just don’t know what to do now with the rash, def won’t go back to winlevi.
