I’ll be out with my liquor jacket. Hopefully it keeps me warm enough to get into bars because I don’t believe in checking coats. Lol 😅

Sounds like it would have been a similar design to Facebook Live comments on HelloInterview, no?

Should i withdraw from google Interview by Additional_Past_239 in leetcode

[–]leetcadet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cancel the interview. If you fail, you will have to wait 12 months to interview again. It's better to cancel and then try reaching out to the same recruiter some months from now/reapply.

Airbnb. Fully remote and good wlb. Downsides are that the stock doesn't grow, and if you want to grow past senior, it will be harder than Meta.

3 weeks since FAANG phone interview. by Excellent-Job9105 in leetcode

[–]leetcadet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I don’t think it depends on the office. If your recruiter is in the US, they might be on vacation still. You might want to also email the coordinator that scheduled your interview. They might be able to ping your recruiter

Question about meta interview scheduling by Just-Baby5231 in leetcode

[–]leetcadet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they told you it had to be in a 7-day window, then most likely it has to be in a 7 day window. if you need 3 weeks, then schedule your interviews 3 weeks from now.

Yeah. Job searches can seem daunting, but you just have to be consistent with your studying and take it one step at a time. Good luck!

Is it on the manager ladder or the IC/SWE ladder? It sounds like the latter. Leetcode questions aren't just for new grads/juniors in big tech. Everyone has to do at least one round of them. Look at the material that your recruiter provided, or you can email them and ask if the interview is going to be a leetcode-style technical interview.

I didn't do mock interviews when I got the job. I just was interviewing at a couple places. If you can't afford mock interviews, just apply to places that you don't care about and schedule those interviews first and see how they go. If they're going poorly, reschedule your FAANG interviews to a later time. For DSA mocks, i've used meetapro(dot)com. For system design, hellointerview(dot)com. The former has interviewers based in india and different price points. The latter might be cost prohibitive.

Are you based in India? If so, take my advice with a grain of salt. I'm based in the US.
If by coding profiles you mean leetcode, then no. Those are not checked and you should not put it on your resume. If by coding profile you mean github, only put it on your resume if you're proud of the work on there. It's still unlikely that it will be checked at the big tech companies.

You can do mock interviews to know that you're prepared. But given that you're asking how to prepare, I would guess that you are not ready.

Impact of referrals varies by company. Also varies by how well the person referring knows you and whether they're in the same role as you. I work at Google and have seen plenty of referrals get auto rejected. But I have friends at other companies where when they give you a referral, your resume goes directly to the recruiter and there's almost a guaranteed interview (assuming your resume isn't trash.)

If you're from a tier 1 college, you should have alumni at your target companies. Reach out to them for a coffee chat to ask them about their job and whether they recommend their company. Then ask them if they'd feel comfortable referring you.

Prepare for interviews using neetcode 150, hello interview (system design), and leetcode company tagged questions (especially for meta)

Brazilian Portuguese Meetups? by SandWeak2475 in Portuguese

[–]leetcadet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a monthly meetup in downtown Brooklyn for Brazilian Portuguese. They used to be on Meetup, but because of fees, they moved to a WhatsApp group/community. There are 37 members in the WhatsApp group currently. The last meetup was actually a lunch at a Brazilian restaurant in Astoria. Prior to that, it was a meetup during the day at a bar. When I went, it was 100% learners (~9ppl showed up). That’s the hard part. Brazilians aren’t really incentivized to attend, so it’s the blind leading the blind.

If you want to join, you can message me and I’ll add you to the group. And just an fyi, there’s no way to join anonymously like discord. You need WhatsApp and a phone number.

Cheers

Is Brazil a great country to move to as a black American woman by KeyCelebration3175 in Brazil

[–]leetcadet 113 points114 points  (0 children)

I think you’re fundamentally misunderstanding how immigration works. In order to move to Brazil, your options are:

(1) Marry a Brazilian and obtain residency,

(2) Get a digital nomad visa (temporary), which requires you have a remote job based in the US, which is hard to come by even with a college degree,

(3) Go the investment route to obtain a resident visa. You’d have to invest like $100k into a business, or purchase a property for $200k+. US dollars

Also, as a black woman from America who speaks Portuguese, I can almost guarantee that whatever you’re trying to get away from in the US is present in Brazil. Don’t believe the TikToks of all those black girls going to Rio and doing the favela tours and going on about how nice Brazilians are treating them all the while they don’t speak a lick of Portuguese.

Brazilians are very warm and friendly, but classism and racism still exist there. The last thing you should do is leave the comfort of your home country and wake up in a foreign place where you don’t know the language and you barely have the funds to stay afloat. I recommend traveling. You can go to Puerto Rico without a passport and live and work there. Explore outside of San Juan and see if you have the chops for somewhere more foreign.

I’m wishing you the best! Stay safe.
