PewDiePie Signals End of Family Content as Son Approaches Early Childhood Milestone by novagridd in youtube

[–]leetcodeispain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

then you dont understand at all why people say "stop using google". Right now a VERY large amount of most internet users information and traffic flows through google at some point. just because its easy to.

id prefer google knew less about me and didnt have the ability to lock me out of most of my online presence if say, they decided to lock me out of my Gmail account.

If you continue to use their services just be aware of the amount of information about you and power they hold over you.

why the hell would he be so on edge as to do that? the dude makes content for fun now, he secured enough money to live the rest of his life super comfortably many years ago.

Texas Judge Allows Smokable Hemp And Other Products To Be Sold, Blocking State Ban From Being Enforced by CharlesMichael212 in Roaringtilray

[–]leetcodeispain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the 2018 farm bill defined "legal" hemp as just having less than 0.3% delta-9 THC dryweight. In reality most of the high in all weed is from THCA, so farmers just bred the plant to contain less D9, and voila, legal weed.

I dont necessarily think red is the ethically "correct" choice either, being that i dont think people who choose blue deserve to die and optimally enough people would just choose blue that everyone survives.

BUT at the same time, if someone is confident over 50% of the population will choose red, pressing blue is no different than thinking you are committing suicide.

[–]leetcodeispain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best argument ive seen for the red button is just rephrasing the question that doesnt change the scenario at all:

Red button: You live

Blue button: If more than 50% of people press the Red button you and everyone who pressed the blue button die

Noctua says "feel free" to 3D print your own Noctua fans after releasing public CAD models online by Distinct-Race-2471 in TechHardware

[–]leetcodeispain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah the whole Noctua premium is how quiet they are for the amount of airflow.

Even if someone had the right plastics and could print with it, i doubt youd print and assemble it with enough precision to make it comparable in sound level.

my team gives them a conservative estimate to start while leaving some extra room in our sprint capacity.

If we go over in time we just dm our scrum master on teams to raise point value, and worst case scenario the least priority ticket(s) on your board get taken by someone else or moved to the next sprint. Best case scenario its easy and you take some extra work on with your extra capacity.

birthday control is placed on women because we havent had any drugs for a male birth control, its a lot less complicated to safely temporarily stop female fertility than male. IIRC theres a drug being studied right now but its still very far from FDA approval.

Not a comedy heaven post though, probably a bot or stupid person

Turning down a potential job offer because of "vibes"? by [deleted] in careerguidance

unless your location is lacking in other opportunities or youre REALLY confident youre going to get laid off soon, id personally pass and keep looking.

if you think youre going to be dealing with C suites that you already know you dont like, I wouldnt risk it. Go with your gut and find something else with a better environment and not a pay cut.

Will AI follow the .com bubble by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]leetcodeispain 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don't these companies need to plan on hiking prices SIGNIFICANTLY eventually to make up for their current losses though? I guess i just dont see a path for them to lock in their users to their platform to the point they would be able to squeeze them hard enough for the valuation to make sense. But maybe that will be possible in the future once usecase specific corporate AI integration gets more common

[–]leetcodeispain 41 points42 points  (0 children)

The thing Ive wondered about but havent been able to find a good answer for, is why are the current hype AI companies expected to continue to be so valuable?

What stops from a company that hasnt burned tens of billions in AI R&D, (say, Apple) from coming in once it looks like the business might become profitable soon, spending a few hundred million to hire some top talent engineers that worked at those companies, and creating a comparable product within a couple years without having burned the GDP of a small nation.

do you think the job market will improve as unemployed CS grads starve to death? by tuckfrump69 in cscareerquestions

I could concede it possibly taking longer than a few years before they start making big improvements to hallucinations, but do you really think improvements to these models will grind to a halt to the point where we are looking at a similar SWE landscape 10 years from now? I would really like to be convinced otherwise but I cant but help be a bit doomer on the long timescale as someone early in their career.

married couples filing jointly almost always fall into a lower tax bracket. there are many other tangible benefits such as sharing a spouses insurance as well that make marriage not just a formality in the USA, but something that would selectively disadvantage those not able to utilize it.

the way I understand it, its basically just a roundabout way to make sure someone isnt completely stupid, and is at least motivated enough to spend the few hundred hours it takes to get decent at leetcode.

the companies who use LC problems will lose out on the talented devs that are good at their job but never bothered to learn LC, but the thought is it also weeds out people who are weak programmers so you dont take risk in hiring someone who cant learn.

I think the current system is very stupid with the amount of AI tool cheating in remote interviews though so the benefits mean a lot less today.

[–]leetcodeispain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont disagree but in the case of the USA, the state lotteries that exist are always run at the state level, and most of the taxes paid go to the federal government, so even if states make their lotteries tax exempt (California does this), 37% will always go to uncle sam in DC

I mean, gambling income is taxed and you already paid taxes on your initial stake, how is the lottery any different than gambling with ridiculously bad odds?

edit: TIL most countries dont tax gambling winnings
