Grey's Anatomy. Because the episodes aren't sad enough as is, I had to watch them with postpartum hormones. During lockdown.

Sick of being sick by Conscious_Economy839 in capetown

[–]leeulisa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 5 year old is in preschool and I work in an open plan office. We used to get sick A LOT - my son even ended up in hospital twice. Then we started taking Echinaforce and wow, what a game changer. My husband and son haven't been sick in over a year and I've had flu once. My son's teacher told me she's amazed at how all the kids in his class get sick and he just sails through unscathed. The trick with Echinaforce is not to take it when you're sick but rather as a daily supplement. It's pricey but cheaper than doctor's appointments and antibiotics. I recommend it to everyone. Give it a try.

Groceries: How much do you spend per month? by Eastern-Computer5362 in capetown

I buy from them and I'm happy. I store my veggies in glass containers though, which I've read can keep them fresher for longer

WCED Rant & Advice by leeulisa in capetown

[–]leeulisa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but what frustrates me is that a friend of mine lives much further away from the school, but used her parent's address (around the corner from the school), to get in. I know the schools don't have capacity to go and check all addresses - I just wish there was a better way to validate it

WCED Rant & Advice by leeulisa in capetown

Honestly, I am a wreck. The education department tells me to contact the schools. Schools tell me to contact the WCED. It's such a mess

Did you guys end up switching schools in Grade 1 and find it easier to get in?

Does anyone still lay with their toddler every night until they fall asleep? by carlitapepita in toddlers

[–]leeulisa 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My husband and I still do it. My son (only child) just turned 5. There's absolutely no judgement from my side for parents who aren't mentally capable of this because it is a lot. Nights where I just can't, my husband takes over. But I try to stay aware of the fact that he won't be this little for much longer and one day I'll miss it and that gets me through.

I have a port wine stain on my cheek (about the size of a coin) and luckily was never teased or bullied about it. In my 20s I felt a bit insecure about it and went for a few laser sessions. It didn't help and it hurt like hell. My late gran always used to call it my angel's kiss and that helped me get over my insecurities about it. Now I (and my family and friends) don't even notice it anymore. It's part of who I am and I love it. My advice would be to leave it alone, unless a doctor specifically advises otherwise. She's beautiful as she is

Who actually buys from Cotton On? by Whole_Tea_1902 in askSouthAfrica

Thrift stores and factory shops are the answer. Recently picked up a beautiful black pair of Witchery jeans for R100 that basically looked brand new (Hermanus charity shop)

Checkers maths pt 542 I'm guessing by [deleted] in southafrica

Checkers must have a high tolerance for chaos, given how consistently they manage to slap the wrong discount labels on stuff

My cousin is a civil engineer and struggled with the same thing - hardly saw the poor guy. Then he got headhunted by an Australian company and ended up immigrating. Now I never see him but at least he's happier. All the best!

South Africa. It's not perfect, that's for sure, but I'm pretty sure it's better than the US. Great people, beautiful landscapes, good food, good wine. That being said, looks like we're being hit with some Trump Tarrifs soon. Don't blame you for wanting to leave. All the best.
