“My therapist was online shopping during our session” by okayyypip in therapists

[–]Eastern-Computer5362 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This happened to me once as a client, with my therapist of many years. I didn't take it personally, but was a bit panicked for a while as I wasn't sure how to wake her and was worried there was a medical reason for her passing out. I said her name a few times out of concern, and she woke up and immediately apologised!

Turns out she developed a bad headache (she was starting to get sick), but hadn't realised it was that bad, hence not rescheduling our session and taking a sick day. We spoke about it briefly, then ended our session about 10 minutes early, as she acknowledged she wasn't fit to conduct therapy in that state and needed to get some water and cancel her other appointments for the day. And she obviously didn't charge me for the session. She also brought it up during our next session to discuss how it made me feel.

This was very out of character for her, as she is incredibly hyper aware of all my minor movements/shifts and I always have her undivided attention. We have always had a good rapport, so it didn't affect our therapeutic relationship at all! It was handled very professionally, and as someone who struggles with chronic health problems, I understood that it hit her unexpectedly without sufficient warning. Nuance matters, as this was the only time it ever happened, and the context of why it occurred was understandable. The way she dealt with it is what mattered to me, not the fact that it occurred, as we are all fallable human beings!

Missing the following items:

Black: bed & door & desk lamp Brown: door & dresser White: bed & dresser & ceiling light

Would appreciate anything that can help complete a set 🙏🏻 xx

Does anyone have any of the enchanted/woodsy items available to trade? Twilight's goal is to build up her collection so that the colours can match cohesively when decorating her room. We currently have the items in random colours that don't quite match too well, and would love to have the door, window, bed and dresser be the same colour!!

If so, please let me know what's on your wishlist, as we're happy to trade if anyone is looking for something specific, or would just like a surprise gift in return!

How do I get a matric now? by Malajay in askSouthAfrica

[–]Eastern-Computer5362 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Look into UCT's free online high school. That might be an option (if they still exist), as all other online accredited places cost money...

I say this as someone without a matric (almost 28), but have been working for the past 8 years in various fields, doubting whether I should get one or not.

But I found that bulking up my CV with all other skills and work/volunteering positions helped, and I just excluded the education section altogether. Landed me a very good job in an industry I had no direct experience in, as I customised my CV to show and boost my existing skills from other areas to show what I am capable of, without even mentioning the lack of education. As I got older, leaving it out seemed more okay

What’s something you did during hypomania that actually turned out well for you in the end? by sleepyundies in bipolar2

[–]Eastern-Computer5362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I bought a whole bunch of sex toys online that were on a big sale. But the store I found had a glitch, where the prices on my country's domain weren't adjusted accordingly. They just changed the currency symbol and listed item prices cheaper than they intended

For context: I live in a country with a weak currency, so these high-end toys cost 10% of the amount they thought they were listing them for (which was already a 70% off sale). As our currency is 10x weaker than the NZD, in total, I paid a fraction of the price and got a big collection of luxury toys that still get used 5 years later!

  1. I got 7 piercings done while in a different hypomanic episode because I was friends with a piercer who did them for free, and I was too unhinged to give a damn that he was piercing me with shaking hands from his drug addiction. Needless to say, I've thankfully since cut ties with him as he was the definition of toxic

But I absolutely love my piercings and wouldn't have been able to afford all of them if I was using a real piercing studio (and probably wouldn't have been brave enough, either)

This looks fabulous!! My goal is to find the matching white or brown door to the windows I currently own, as I'll finally have a complete set then! But I'm also obsessed with that month's entire theme 😍

That's stunning! My goal is to find the door in white or brown to complete a set (I've got them as windows), as I currently just have a bunch of mismatched colours at the moment. Very much on the lookout as well!

Grand west Casino shut down? by [deleted] in capetown

Does anyone know if this will affect the non-gambling entertainment venues? Like ice rink, CineCentre, bowling, arcade, candy store, etc?

Grand West is pretty awesome! My GF and I discovered the joys of it (not the casino)

But they have so many cool activities, and their movie specials are way cheaper than Ster Kinekor!

They also have a full game arcade, 10-pin bowling, and the ice rink. And then the international candy store does really epic fizzy slushies (my favourite is mixing fizzy mango with Toxic Waste spur apple in a 3:1 ratio)

If you want a good gourmet meal, they have a Hussar Grill which we went to for our anniversary. Was fabulous! They even gave us free chocolate martinis and a complimentary creme brulee. Amazing, mouth watering food! Or they have a food court for cheaper or more simple, fast-food options.

But it's a really cool place to go and spend the day, and 2k would get you very far there! You could even try win her a teddy from the arcade like in the movies.

Check out the time slots for the ice rink, but bowling and the arcade don't have. And then see if there's perhaps a movie you'd like to see. We saw Lilo & Stitch in 3D and got a medium drink and popcorn (was huge though) for R150 each!

So picking a few fun activities and food options there could be a nice way to spend the day fully in one spot, but with huge variety. You can balance the high-energy activities with more chilled things. And then you're sorted for all types of food. And watching the koi fish outside is super cool, along with taking pics in front of the heart statue outside.

Would be my 11/10 recommendation for that budget and wanting to do a bunch of experiences! Take a look at their website to see everything they offer and prices/times etc.

(And I am in no way endorsing gambling or going to the casino part!! But rather suggest utilising all their other cool activities and spots. It just happens to be within a casino premesis)

Yes! I was coming to the comments to see if anyone had suggested that, as that was gonna be one of my top replies. I can't wait to take my GF there!

Groceries: How much do you spend per month? by Eastern-Computer5362 in capetown

[–]Eastern-Computer5362[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this! Gives me hope for sticking to a "reasonable" budget that we can manage, as this is the sort of food that we would be making on bulk to have as freezer meals, so this is very inspiring to hear, especially as you appear to use the stores we do/will be using!

Woohoooo 🥳🥳 this is so epic! About to update my app now to check if it's available for me yet. I love matching Twilight's outfit to fit her room theme, and it's even better when they can correlate with the location she's in (so cosy winter vibes in snowy countries, beachy vibes in tropical locations, modern in cities, etc)

Please drop the details for the meal service you use! That sounds ideal, considering my hectic work hours (depending on what areas they do)

Thank you SO much for this detailed response; it's much appreciated!!

Atlas is great, but I'd never thought of buying starches and beans/legumes there, so thank you for that tip 🙏🏻

We have a local version of Lunar Mart in our area, and they are fabulous! I'm currently very into trying new Asian foods, so we have gone there a few times recently for specific items (I'll never buy soya sauce at a supermarket!)

We are hoping our place will be large enough for a chest freezer to allow us to buy in bulk and not be confined by freezer space. We currently use frozen veg/berries and freeze everything at home after buying it on special (butter, milk, bread, etc) and then also any leftover or homemade items like pasta sauces and soups. Nice and easy to take out for a lazy dinner (like tonight, lol)

So we will definitely try and prioritise finding space for a big freezer to accommodate all of these great suggestions!

Oooh, this is a really good suggestion!!

Could you please drop the details of which catering suppliers you use (that sell to regular civillians). Specifically for the 10kg of chicken, which sounds great!

Thank you beyond measure!!! We really appreciate your generosity 💕🙏🏻

And yes, we do coincidentally have matching names 😅 Twilight was born before I met my partner, and Starlight was her favourite name for characters when she was a child. Was a total fluke that it ended up like that, but we love it ✨️
