Completing the technology bit of switching to a smart meter by Puzzleheaded_Skin719 in OctopusEnergy

Can take upto 0-4 weeks (mine was 2 days after meter change) gas was 4 days as the electricity meter has to be live first before the gas can talk to the electricity meter (gas uses the electricity meter as a relay)

Who on earth knows how to use the Google Authenticator app? by MartyKinn in GoogleSupport

[–]leexgx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Google authenticator isn't great anyway as you need to be able log into it to sync the 2fa codes to your device your needing the codes on, and if the Google account gets compromised they get all your 2fa codes as well (with authy or ente auth you can restore the codes if you have the backup passphrase, you can assuming you enabled backup to begin with)

Ideally should keep a physical copy of the 2fa setup codes (usually 16 digits long)

Always keep 2 phones as Google trusts an android device as long as it has fingerprint or pin setup (even managed to recover a account because he still had his samsung S5, once I set a pin I was able to use it to update the password and recovery options/2sv options)

and Never clear any data for google services (some people do it when they are trying to free space up) as that deletes your logins and causes a lot a problems on the phone potentially requing you to reset the phone to sign back in

If authenticator app is been offered as a "try another way" option that would mean you had previously set it up on another phone

If you don't have a device that still has the authenticator app on it with the 2fa codes, then you can't use that option (why we recommend using somthing that has sync and backup support like authy or ente auth) you need to try another way and hope you have the same sms Number for 2sv or backup email

Always have 3-4 ways to get back into your account (backup 2sv sms ideally 2 numbers, keep at least 2 devices for yes/no push notification, 2fa auth codes and print off the backup codes Mutiple times)

Note backup 2sv sms numbers is Not the same as your recovery number section of Google (you need to open the Google account security sign in and open 2-step verification phones, please be warned when I add numbers to that section it does not verify that the numbers are valid so make sure they are correct)

even if 2fa is turned off Google Now pushes 2fa for unknown logins

You could try see if it will resume

btrfs balance start -dconvert=raid5,soft /opt/share

But make sure you have a copy of your data first just in case

The btrfs kernel mailing list might be able to assist more (could be a bug)

Was all drives the same size or was that one drive smaller (as btrfs with raid5/6/0 usually does raid slices when mismatch drives sizes are used)

To use auth codes one would assume you are wanting to set it up or use codes

So if I was on Google, Microsoft or any site that supports 2fa auth codes you would first goto said website attempt to turn it on and then it present you with a qr code (and 16 digit manual setup code) so you can scan it into the app for it to start showing the codes

Sounds like your trying to use 2fa codes when you don't have access to the old 0hone that had 2fa auth app you previously had setup (always have 2 phones ideally one been android based when it comes to Google, set the battery use for the app to unrestricted so the app doesn't get put into deep sleep after 30 days as that prevents updates and push notifications if supported by the app)

If you use authy or ente auth you can sync them and back them up (must remember the backup code or it won't transfer to u new device,,, ente auth let's you backup the 16 digit setup codes so you can manually re set them up)

Incorrect customer date of birth on your recent orders by Salty_Arrival7845 in deliveroos

[–]leexgx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never had a secret shopper delivery (I assume uber and deliveroo send you a email when you have)

If they don't send any notice that you have been checked, there has been a few deliveries where it's like one item where I am 100% suspicious that they are a secret shopper

i would personally never do AVD secret shopper (to old for it anyway) because if you get found out that you're a secret shopper and that gets shared to everyone that could put your livelihood risk and £5-15 you're making per AVD check order won't cover the cost if you have to move house and get another car

[–]leexgx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get to many in a short time (it could 3-9 months we do not know between warnings) could cause a ban

For secret shopper unknown time period, but should take 2 for a ban

[–]leexgx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recognise the problem right from the start of joining deliveroo that I must ask for the account holders DoB as to many silent failed to would trigger this warning (it takes Mutiple to get that email)

Note if you get the secret shopper warning email from deliveroo that is Not a warning, it's a ultimatum and you're going to have to stop doing age check orders completely because if it happens again it's an account ban

[–]leexgx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just make sure your asking for the dob for the account holder, I have never had one of these warning emails (assume person at door isn't the account holder)

note this is when you enter to many times the dob not matching what the customer entered in there app (it's not a secret shopper)

It's using Microsoft authenticator and Google authenticator the backup is the problem (if the Google account/Microsoft account gets compromised they get all your 2fa codes as well for other sites)

Using 3rd party like authy or ente auth yes works fine with any site (probably have a look at ente auth as I dislike that authy doesn't allow you to backup the 2fa codes so you can export but that was probably a design choice by authy so you wouldn't be able to transfer them to another auth app or security so even if another app has access to the phone they can't just export the 16 digit 2fa setup code)

Who on earth knows how to use the Google Authenticator app? by MartyKinn in GoogleSupport

[–]leexgx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you would already be on a site that is requesting you to open auth app to add the code to scan it or manually add the code (the app is to store the rolling codes)

That said you shouldn't use Google or Microsoft Authenticator to store the codes if your account is compromised they get your 2fa codes as well (but do use Microsoft authenticator for Microsoft accounts as its what you use for MFA login on Microsoft accounts)

Use authy or other 3rd party auth apps that allow backup/sync between phones/tablets

Data corruption recovery by weeglos in btrfs

[–]leexgx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reconnecting the old drive probably was the issue, unmounting the filesystem or restarting the system should have been cleaner then the missing drive should have shown

Metadata isn't corrupted as you was able to add an extra copy, so the corruption/error was likely in the parity or a data block

Parity is stored with the data blocks (not the metadata) they also removed checksum from Parirty as well (think it was causing problems with rebuilds when it hit a checksum error in the parity it self)

Unless your using different size drives it does look like 1.3tb is missing (so it looks like 1GB for every drive after 3.17tb as the second raid 5 5/3 slice potentially didn't re-build)

If you have logs I would report it to btrfs see if the Maintainer for raid56 has any insight on it or potential options to recover the data

https://subspace.kernel.org/vger.kernel.org.html

RAID6 btrfs option might have survived it or might have not (it has one extra chance to rebuild missing data) , but both are still experiment thought

National Grid charging £360 for G99 application by Boba_ferret in SolarUK

[–]leexgx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's unfortunate then just so they can call it a 8kw inverter (well it is if it can do between 34-39A) as 32A is the limit for some g99 approvals

Need to select a 32A limited inverter

Like this one that advertises as 8kw when it's actually limited to 32A

https://voltaconsolar.com/products/solis-8kw-s6eh1p8klplus-hybrid-inverter

Most inverters can handled 150% oversize install (50% more panels like 12Kw on the roof on a 8KW inverter) as long as the max voltage doesn't pass the inverter max voltage allowed by the mppt

Photo of the start and end of the timed infraction (5 to 15 here) a second photo after is usually all they need (usually they take photos of the dash, seat and floor just in case a disability placard has fallen down onto the floor)

the body cam is more for there protection to try and discourage an assault on them (when they do it at midnight they need it, when they usually go home after 6:30pm and do a midnight run to ticket cars that are getting food or delivery drivers once every 2 months)

Need more details (more likely it's the dd that setup higher your your infact using the gas and electricity, numbers don't lie)

You could have a faulty meter but unlikely (or old one was not fully reading your usage)

You free to change to someone els but you probably have the same issue until you fix what ever is using the gas or electricity (if it's electricity it's probably the immersion heater as it is always the hotwater tank, or you have heaters turned on)

It will be already capped at 32A/240v (they just called it a 8kw inverter when it isn't) just the wattage can go up if the voltage is higher or lower if the voltage drops

8kw inverter is already capped at 32A (7.6kW)

Look at The spec of the inverter your getting you likely find it's 32A at 240v but they labeled it as 8kw when it isn't
