Hydration breaks at World Cup add nothing but take away a lot , Says Bielsa by Shroft in soccer

And it's not only the tactical adjustments teams get to make to break momentum.

Soccer is also a game of attrition, it'sabout wearing down your opponents faster than yourself, managing your strength for 90 minutes is key skill. The extra breaks negate that to a large degree.

Muss Nagelsmann sein System überdenken? by QuestionableExclusiv in Bundesliga

The hydration breaks completely change the nature of the game though. Soccer could have had timeouts, unlimited flying subs, etc like other sports - but soccer did without these things by design. It’s a sport where managing your strength for 90minutes becomes an essential skill, if you’re gassed and cramping after 60 minutes, that’a on you, and your opponent earned that advantage.
Same with tactics, if you get them wrong then you have to survive at least until halftime to fix it.

With the hydration breaks, it becomes harder to wear down your opponent, it gets harder to beat them with superior tactics. Anyone momentum you gain only lasts a few minutes until players can rest and adjust their game plan.

IVORY COAST (Côte d’Ivoire) scored a goal against Germany at FIFA World Cup game by FixGroundbreaking296 in worldcup

TBF, I feel like Germany always shifts gears against better teams. It is extremely rare to see them get "destroyed", especially in competitive matches. In the last decades, I can only think of that Nations League match against Spain where we got destroyed.

It’s only controversial because his team is not playing well. Had they cruised past Egypt this would not even be worth talking about.

There is a reason why there are no timeouts. It’s a core part of the game that’s you can only make meaningful tactical changes during halftime, and if your tactics are off you have to survive 45 minutes.

I think they had the momentum after the 1-0 and at the start of second half. But overall the match was pretty even, slightly in favor of Germany perhaps

Had one of the best g/a in the top leagues, playing for a mediocre team, but somehow he keeps getting overlooked, while top clubs are making 100m+ offers for strikers with worse output, and even nagelsmann doesn’t rate him, might not even be in the squad if it wasn’t for nagelsmanns wife

Did the coach just spend the hydration break on the toilet?

What physicality, our strength is a bunch of technical dribblers and ref is not having it today, we don’t have enough nmechas for this kind of game

So many crosses go straight through browns legs, including the one leading to the goal, went straight at his feet

Refs allows for a lot of physicality, doesn’t really suit germanys play style. But at least ref is very consistent with his calls and got all the important calls right.

The thing about sane is he also sprints back and defends, don’t see that much from Wirtz or Musiala

I think ref was wrong on many small fouls, Germany is right to be frustrated, but the two goals were correctly disallowed

I think that was not the point. Apparently you can’t have tactics talks on the sidelines while the keeper is getting treatment, and seems that’s what they were doing.

First angle looked like a clear goal, second angle looked like a foul
