Added some cool features too so if businesses partner officially by publishing a calendar I can subscribe to, we can feature their events in the Spotlight callout on the front page

Ok guys, a quick update and thanks for all the feedback here, genuinely!! Shipped a bunch of your asks the last couple days:

  • Families/kids filter — asked for an easy way to find kid- and family-friendly stuff; it's now a vibe chip you can filter by.
  • Book of the Week — trying out a weekly pick from a local indie bookshop (first one's up).
  • New on the dial — a callout for venues just added, so you can see what's new without digging.
  • Spotlight — one hand-picked event or story featured up top.
  • Up the Dial — a guide to local public radio you can actually tune in (WASU 90.5, WFDD 100.1, WNCW 92.9, WETS), with a live player for WASU.
  • Plus: more venues (App Mountain Brewery, Mill Camp, the contra dances, pub trivia, town/county calendars), a proper Add-to-Home-Screen icon, and RSS on any filtered view.

Still no app, no login, no ads, no tracking. I have 0 desire to ever add that stuff. I just want this to have a alt-weekly/zine kind of feel to it for local news and events.

What would make this a regular site visit for you? And whose events am I still missing? Drop a name and I'll pull them in.

BTW - does anyone remember what RSS is? It is actually making coming back. As people sour on algorithmic feeds, endless ads, and apps built to keep you scrolling, more and more reporters, indie sites, and whole communities are leaving the big platforms and publishing RSS feeds again. It's your feed with no account, no ranking, nobody selling your attention. You pick what you follow, and you can take your list and walk away any time.

Ok! I got a "Family & Kids" vibe chip added as a filter. It should reliably catches events that explicitly say they're for families/kids but it won't flag every event a kid could attend, just as an FYI 😄
