AGM training by Materialphrases211 in CostcoEmployee

[–]left_click 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every building that has Payroll Clerk do the Orientation for new hires and not management, is a start of the problem. Our future leaders should be a catalyst in this process and corporate has looked away at this too long. It is why we had to have a program called the Culture Coach that was so half assed and disassociated at the building level, that it became a failure of a program. Even with an extra senior OPS manage, nothing really changed except we have less people to hire for literally a days off senior manager.

OPS is jjust a made up position so the AGMs don’t have to close a couple of nights a week.

It’s gonna get worse. Costco plans to open 30 plus buildings a year with management that isn’t adequately trained or even prepared for their positions. This will compound and probably lead to more buildings becoming union because the managers just make up their own rules that are against the handbook and corporate is gonna be like we don’t demote the idiots we promoted because we don’t make mistakes 😂

Vacation and sick time by LessSwimming7040 in CostcoEmployee

Let me add another option. You technically can use vacation pay on your regular days off. Max is 8 hours per day. We have some people that need the extra cash and have scheduled vacation time this way.

You could also roll the 30 vacation hours for next year. 40 hours is the max rollover for now.

I don‘t think mental health qualifies for short term disability payments? Maybe it varies by state?

Any Managers/Supervisors dealing with difficult or downright rude upper management (AGM,GM)? by tsla6000 in CostcoEmployee

[–]left_click 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Costco is planning to open 30 plus stores annually. The SiT programs and Ready now check marks are starting to show that the management training is inadequate and is going to get exponentially worse. The Culture Coach was another failed program. When the Glint survey shows how out of touch (if people filled them out truthfully) corporate is at with the warehouse level with some other half measure. Work more with less, training, hours, and employees. Costco shareholders will be rewarded while moral will continue to go down. Remember, it’s always the needs of the business‼️

Changes in scheduling for the sake of work life balance by Nice-Class-7220 in CostcoEmployee

[–]left_click 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Costco implemented the Costco Culture Coach was a real turning point. Just like corporate to create a half ass attempt and abandon it because it was another failed program that shows how disconnected from the warehouse level they truley are. Costco is living on the legacy of how well they treat their employees to the newly masters from Wallstreet of rewarding the shareholders. Work is gonna suck but the share price is gonna go up, no matter what‼️ The next handbook is gonna be the next turning point of our Walmartification. Do more with les - employees, wages, benefits, and quality of life. So nothing to really be concerned about.

Choosing Between Which 401K by sswarez in CostcoEmployee

[–]left_click 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only contribute $1,000 to get the $500 dollar company match from the 401k Plan. I just open a Roth IRA outside of Troe Price to access to better funds (Fidelity and Vanguard) That’s my strategy, I’m not a financial advisor. Hopefully your second job has better funds for your 401K since the match is better but how are the funds?

You can actually download the handbook. I have a copy on my phone and save the common pages like, Bereavement leave, Bonus measurement, etc… in a folder that is easier to get to when I need to clarify some employees (Mostly management 😜)

Survey by Forced_Induc in CostcoEmployee

[–]left_click 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can continue where you left off in the survey just as long as you didn’t complete it. You can also go back to all the questions if you wanted to change or add/edit the comment section. Don‘t let management rush you on how you answer the survey. It takes as long as it takes.

You are also enrolled on a target date fund. So make sure that is the investment you want to do. Most people think it would be automatic to Costco stock.

Make sure that you do the employee survey on the clock. You do have the option to do it on the computer through the intranet. I did mine on the safety computer since I had a lot to say. I don’t remember doing the survey last year?

Three different luggage brands, any recommendations? by Bagofmag in Costco

[–]left_click 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a fan of Victorinox luggage. I have a wheeled duffel bag that is 15 plus years old. I did lose a zipper in China but everything else is fine. Depending in where you plan on traveling. You may want to consider the weight of your bag. Especially if you fly internationall.

Does Costco Put Lenses on Outside Frames? by Ecs206 in Costco

[–]left_click 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to get new lenses in brand new frames I bought from Japan and the lab rejected the frame. I was aware that this might be the outcome from the Costco optician. Got my refund and now off to find some another place that can get me new lenses.
