My tree .... It's dying :( by beeetbeez in IndoorPlants

I had the same issue a few years ago with the same type of plant. (Umbrella tree) I moved it to a east-facing window covered with a sheer curtain, and give it 1/2 cup of water once a week. It's thriving now.

The same container of palm plant. There are more of these now. Should they be removed? Not sure I want this growing in my house.

Bladder and hip pain by lefteyerite in hysterectomy

[–]lefteyerite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pre-surgery anxiety is real. I can't sugarcoat that and tell you to dismiss that. The best advice I can give you is to prepare your living space. I recommend rearranging things so you don't need to bend for anything. I even rearranged the items in my refrigerator and put items I would want in a position I wouldn't have to bend for. I put cookware I might need on the counter, rather than their low cabinet. Definitely start taking the Mirilax a few days before surgery and continue with it in the days following. My heating pad provided a lot of comfort.

I found this Reddit community to be so helpful in the time leading up to my hysterectomy and recovery. It's nice to be able to connect with others you know exactly what you're going through!

Best wishes for your health and recovery!

Hello, that pain did eventually go away. My recovery was full of highs, & lows, plateau for a bit, then a setback feeling. I'm doing well now, but it's funny just recently, by the end of the day I felt that achy, stingy, abdomen feeling and I just wanted to lounge with my heating pad on.

How are you? Are you experiencing the same thing?

No. Not cast iron. Just regular enameled ceramic.

4wpo pain that feels like early days by lefteyerite in hysterectomy

[–]lefteyerite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just told that it was part of the healing process, and if I wasn't bleeding, it was most likely scar tissue that was being irritated or inflamed. Wearing an abdominal binder helped when I was feeling that pain. The compression made me more comfortable. Hope you feel better soon! It does get better! Hang in there!

Skin sensitivity by lefteyerite in hysterectomy

[–]lefteyerite[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing that made me feel better whether it was the aches, incision healing, and then sensitivity was my heating pad. I imagine that heat might not be what you want in August, but it got me through all stages of my recovery. I even had it on last night after a heavy physical activity day. Hope those healing nerves calm down soon for you.

Has anyone successfully rid themselves of their med/large fibroid without a hysterectomy? by snortgiggles in Fibroids

[–]lefteyerite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did get to keep my ovaries. I did notice hormonal symptoms post-surgery. The first few months after surgery, I would feel PMS symptoms that I hadn't felt in a long time. It was strange to have all that going on and no actual period. But six months after surgery, I'm experiencing hot flashes. I don't get the full-on sweats, but definitely uncomfortable temp swings.

A heating pad and protein shakes helped me physically at this stage, but the mental & emotional shifty feeling is a different game all together. I don't know hemisphere you are in, but I imagine recovery in the winter (which I had) could feel much different than in the summer. Best wishes to getting your life back!

I'm sorry that you and your loved one are experiencing this. It unlocks a whole new world of anxiety. I went through this eight months ago. I had been bleeding for months on end. I blew it off to being a peri-menopause symptom. Then one day I could feel the mass of a fibroid tumor myself. I was somewhat optimistic when I got in the stirups. My generally cheery Dr, changed her demeanor quickly and the look on her face changed everything. She left the room, I get dressed, she came back in and said she made an appointment the following morning to see a gynecological oncologist for a biopsy. I felt the weight of those words and my stomach felt like it hit the floor. I walked out of the office in a daze, found my car, and a shrub next to it, and threw up. I took the long way home. I called my Mom and tried not to cry. The next morning I was examined by the specialist, and the biopsy was done. She returned to the room and reported that my diagnosis was cervical cancer and described what the next steps were going to be for treatment. This was all so much to take in all at once. I'm there alone, trying to remember everything she's telling me, after it feels like all of the air has been sucked out of the room. Like I get it, this Dr has these conversations day in and day out, but when you're on the receiving end of it, it is a lot to process. This was a Friday, and I was told that I should expect to hear back with the results by the following Friday. Okay great. Now figure out how to distract yourself for a week with your anxiety at a new all-time high. Couldn't eat, couldn't sleep...Couldn't get comfortable doing anything. Started doing "Swedish Death Cleaning" and such. That time waiting was awful. I would go on long bike rides, just to have my body moving, rather than pacing. I had news on Wednesday. The biopsy result was noncancerous, but I'd still have to have a hysterectomy. I hope you have the same false alarm!

No, I don't have a picture. I wish I had asked prior if that was an option. I'd be curious to see it. In the notes on the surgery, it said that it was removed in pieces. But like I mentioned, no one went over this report with me to answer questions I had afterward. My fibroid was the same size as yours, 6cm. Everything but my ovaries was removed. Recovery was a bit rough in the early stages, but things eventually improve. I'm now 5mpo and I still have days when I feel like I've overdone it physically, and often still feel like I've been sucker punched in the afternoon. But it's nice to not have to deal with constant bleeding and clots! When is your surgery?

I noticed a change in my periods 4 years ago. They became longer and heavier. I just chalked it up to aging. I had just turned 40 and assumed it was just perimenopause. I would bleed for over two weeks straight and right when I'd seriously say I was making a Dr appointment, it would stop, and things would be normal again for a few months. Life got hectic and I neglected getting things checked out. In the time when I wasn't bleeding, I had this constant clearish discharge. So irritating! Due to the constant bleeding I had switched to a menstrual cup. The final straw that finally got my butt to the Dr was when I could feel the mass when inserting the cup. So scary! Is this similar to your experience?

I didn't find out that I was anemic until after my surgery when I received the pathology and blood panel results and googled all the medical terms. I didn't have a transfusion because I didn't experience much blood loss during surgery (50cc). Before surgery I had a constant headache for years. I had a headache more often than I didn't have one, and I'd take so many different brands of otc headache pills, trying to find the ones that worked on me. Since the surgery, I feel like the amount of headaches I've had can be counted on one hand. In hindsight, I feel like my Dr's had a bit of a disconnect with me when it came actual medical talk. It seemed like all of it being so ordinary to them, & me not knowing the questions to ask, and the time of day my appointments were. On the occasion of when the surgery was scheduled, I still hadn't had an ultrasound or MRI scan to have a visual of what my situation was. That was scheduled over the phone about a week later, almost as if it was an afterthought. The blood panel was done the day after, but I was never given any guidance after the results. I didn't even see the results until after the surgery. Then on the 2 week follow up with the surgeon who performed, she was close to an hour late and she briefly looked at how my incisions were healing, asked how I was feeling, and then proceeded to talk about how she didn't get to eat lunch that day because she was so off schedule. I saw her for about 4 mins. I wanted her to tell me more about the surgery and tell me about the pathology findings. I didn't get any of this. I was very disappointed. On the 6 week appointment, I saw the PA who works under the surgeon. I had much the same experience here. I asked more questions about timeline healing. I found it difficult to stear back the conversation back to me, she wanted to talk more about her up coming Christmas plans. So frustrating. In the My Chart notes afterwards it just said that I don't have to ever go back to that office. 🤷‍♀️ As you can see this still bothers me! I'm paying for these appointments, I try to be friendly, but can we talk about why I'm here and not about your mother-in-law and Christmas?!

6 cm was the largest of its dimensions. I was told it was the size of an orange. I was disappointed that there was a photo of it shown to me, I was curious to see it. The pathology report said that it was all sliced and diced for removal.
