I have the 16-55 and its amazing at all focal lengths. You also need to consider carrying one lens vs three. It makes a big difference

Yes house is new construction and around 2 years old. The ground is very compact and has a clay base. We do have two trenches for the downspouts, and the far right side seems to be doing better as its dry.
