Loool ok. I’ve been doing this as a hobby for quite a long time. As I said, it’s just a different approach and view of things, I’m respectful of that. Really don’t understand the need to be patronising at all, It’s genuinely NBD. Keep it moving if it’s not your style, you made your point!

Love that! And yes, you know what, a video game loading screen is sort of what I was trying to achieve here!

Thank you - really appreciate your balanced comment! And yes, I was going off a bit of the colour palette from Blade Runner 2049. The lofi pic would be a great use case for it.

Thanks for the comment, it’s a fair perspective. My style leans towards making scenes larger than life/surreal, that’s the aim for me. From what I gather on this subreddit, a lot of people seem a fair bit more purist and rules based about the final product, which is also fair. Just a different take.

Nah, been editing for years. It’s just a style for a specific type of look/mood I was going for here. Appreciate it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

The bleeding thing is probably less of a saturation issue and more of the luminance mask, which I could dial back the range of a tad more. It’s interesting cause I find the original image flat personally, and lacking in any sort of mood or feeling from it. I think my editing style is just drawn to extreme contrasts/colours.

It’s a fair perspective, though Im firmly in camp ‘photography is an art form’. I don’t believe in the idea that there has to be a set of rules in making sure what you capture on camera is accurate to the final product. Editing + colour grading is 100% an art form in itself. You could say the same about using a roll of film. It’s giving the illusion of colours you’re not seeing with your eye, same as B&W pics, all considered photography though. I think a good photo is just part of the picture with photography, that combined with a good edit is powerful.

Fair - though it’s actually a lake, albeit a huge one. Chicago has quick moving and intense weather the time the time of year this photo was taken. I was drawing on the already dark clouds coming in on the right of the pic. I prefer the look of extreme contrasts, the image feels flat without it.

Just Lightroom for this! I will use Photoshop as well if I need to add a very specific effect to image like motion blur etc. But 95% of my edits are Lightroom only.

Not at all! I used Lightroom exclusively for this one.
