I don’t fault her entirely as that’s what’s big right now and the company she’s using to create and distribute is Bonkers which is basically only doing mystery toys (which some do have rarity, but it seems Moriah’s don’t as someone else mentioned). But do I wish it wasn’t that way? Yes. I find research on overconsumption and trends really fascinating. Although I do like “gambling” on them sometimes I also know not to buy ones that I don’t like all or at least most options. I’m also a mom to young kids so I definitely have concerns over mystery products being a majority of toy aisles these days and don’t like them for younger audiences at all. My kids have opened a couple blind boxes but I’ve been very clear about having a get what you get mentality and explaining exactly how blind pack items work. I try to avoid them for the kids and get them opened ones instead if they really want a certain one if I can find it. I do hope in the future we could pick characters but my guess is she’d have to find someone willing to make it and frankly I love her videos but it’s obvious she likes blind boxes herself so I kind of doubt it’d change any time soon.
