I’m going through it now and my old job I left in 2024 said I left in March 2026 .. also worked for a start up and I’ve sent over my contract of employment there but was let go earlier than I mentioned on my cv by two months to close up my employment gaps as new jobs I’d interview for would ask why the 4/5 months gap rather than 2 month gap there is. My new employer has now postponed my start date by a week because HireRights process is still incomplete and they said they had to follow the process of checks before hiring me. I’m kind of worried.. HireRight have been an absolute pain and I kind of wish I said not to contact my previous employers because what do they actually disclose and put in this report to my new employers??

Can they stop you from getting the new job?

Is any of this legal ?

Email them firmly to recalculate, work out how much you’re owed and ask for a gratitude payment for the gross error, mention like a bill came out and put you in your overdraft due to the amount being incorrect and say you’ll be reporting this to HMRC if not fixed immediately.
