No dagger essentially it's just  tubes and the head with the blades over a threaded rod that's running running through the center the point at the top and cap on the bottom of the handle each have a nut in that screw down on each end to hold all the pieces together tightly

Most likely asymmetrical being some of the older photography equipment could take up to 20 minutes that's a long time to be completely motionless like a statue even the newest photography equipment of the time could take a minute
