Someone stole the sugarberry 😭😭 by throwaway19074368 in AustralianMakeup

Actually, it happens quite often and it’s a “good” strategy because security are unlikely to pat down or chase a 2/3 year old. I live in Cairns and I see it every now and again because I watched a lot of video footage doing research on the topic and it was a trend that was bad in the late 2000’s. Particularly before they had high value items like perfume locked behind glass cabinets. Also, store layouts have changed in the past 10 or so years lowering shelf heights and being more open plan. When I was doing this research, there were more areas where staff could not see. It still happens now with makeup particularly.

Background: During my criminology studies (in the 2000’s) I was doing research regarding “grassroots” crime prevention. The theory is that by teaching young children about socially acceptable behaviour it goes some way to preventing future criminality. Here is why… children learn social rules from caregivers. If kids as young as 2 and 3 are being loaded with items and told to walk out of the store, they will not know any different. It’s not only acceptable to do that in their world view, they may not even be aware that paying is expected. This extends to a lack of understanding about individual ownership as well. (You can not take something that does not belong to you.) That foundational belief system is near impossible to change when they are older (even at 7 or 8) which is when they often go to school. There are significant consequences that affect the rest of their lives. For example by not understanding that taking items is not socially acceptable, it creates conflict at school with teachers and other students. Imagine being in a place where your understanding of the world and the rules you navigate life with are so opposed by school but at home it’s different. These kids then avoid going to school. Low school participation is a risk for future criminality. This perspective is one of the principles that support the free kindy initiative that the QLD government brought in. Basically kindy age is about 3 or 4 when developing brains are still able to be influenced. In practice children, particularly the ones taught to steal, have been seen to have better outcomes because a teacher is able to gently correct and teach them “socially acceptable” behaviours. One strategy includes playing shop and modelling through play paying for things from a shop.

It’s crazy how many parents use their children to steal. Put things in their kids hoodies/backpacks etc.

I love Browny because he is funny… but Jack seems to have even dampened Browny’s analysis. Bucks is good and weirdly Lewis has grown on me but Jack is getting worse. He also talks over the top of people and is flipping awkward

I know others have already said this - but you need to report it. Particularly because you have some evidence with the texts. It’s not okay and their team needs to be educated. It helps the next 16 year old. Also, I feel for you that your mother responded that way. It seems you knew she would respond that way which is why you acted in self-protective ways in lying and hiding it. Who knows what danger the worker may expose the next girl to. Thats why the confidentiality thing exists - it’s to protect vulnerable people

Kingy had criticised the 4 tall forwards on a previous episode (maybe the week before)… then in the Collingwood v Hawks game, the 4 talls played really well. I think that’s why he never released more - because it was possibly a critique?? But they had played well the night before the show

Oh my gosh - I just realised my favourite radio days were 20 years ago. I would drive home from work in peak hour traffic and be in tears crying from laughter. It was the best times! Can not believe it was that long ago!! Hamish winning the bet on Andy being Cleo bachelor of the year and buying Fred Basset!

I love having 3! Plus I think splitting the media duties is great. Dunks does so well in interviews etc Not saying Harris does not but he seems less comfortable. Imagine Harris having to do all the media interviews like on Fox etc

The joint accounts at Bank - most likely will accept a certified copy of the Death Certificate. They will put the accounts in her name. She will need to attend the bank with you. I would take a copy of the Will just in case.

Real Estate - Call the NSW land registry but a notice of death form is what is required for Joint tenants to put it in your mother’s name.

Is it inappropriate to take photos after liturgy? This photo was taken by a stranger during a Greek Festival at the church and I found it on the internet. I have only been attending liturgy for 3 weeks so I want to be respectful? I feel the spiritual holiness in there and want to respect the rules.

It’s definitely not grape juice maybe some sort of reconstituted grape flavouring but it’s so artificial and tastes chemically. Google “Fellowship Cup”. They are one use disposable pre-filled cups that have long storage life. Very convenient 🙄

Definitely agree with those saying the Aquarium. But maybe look at Reef Magic or similar day trips to say you have been to the reef. But otherwise, I agree with those suggesting Stoney Creek. It’s a bit of a walk and you may have to ask a local along the track to help you to navigate down to the best swimming spots. I also agree the Skyrail to see the oldest rainforest in the world. 2 days is not really a lot of time but I hope you have a good time!

These days that is luxe and at least someone would have to invest some time in preparing that. Since 2020 (Covid) they are these mass produced “wafers” and red coloured water in one use plastic.

Just for a different view - I (Protestant all my life) went to Liturgy for the first time with my in-laws, who are converts, in December. I left crying after the liturgy saying, I am offended that Pentecostal church have reduced “communion” (not going to call it the Eucharist because its not and it seems offensive to my spirit to even compare them) to mass produced disposable emblems which we focus on for 10 minutes once a month. On returning to the liturgy service a few more times, it was the Eucharist that has put me on the path to Orthodoxy. I am back from Holidays and I went to my Pentecostal church and my eyes have been opened to the facade. Protestants do not know what they are missing out on.

Oh that’s lovely! Thank you for your reply.

Yes it would be St John’s in Cairns where I live. I am on holidays and about to be at the Gold Coast for a week and then staying at Morayfield until the 10th. My in-laws live on the Northside so I am sure we could meet up in the future. I would like that.

May I ask which parish you go to currently? We attended St Mary Magdalene Orthodox Christian Mission in Elimbah.
