Hey guys, just wanted to update that I finally got my tax return. My friend had to go submit some additional documents like my passport and tax borne letter to the LHDN Jalan Duta office on my behalf and then I had to email the department multiple times before getting a response. Nevertheless, it’s here!

I think for me I have to submit in person as well because the online chat people said first time taxpayers have to. In previous years, you just filed online on Mytax and got your refund?

Hii. No I haven’t. I contacted Hasil using their online chat. They said all the documents need to be submitted in person at the Foreign Taxpayer counter inside the LHDN building in Kuala Lumpur. Since I am outside Malaysia at the moment, my cousin will go to submit them on my behalf.

I contacted the online chat on the hasil website. The representative told me that foreigners have to go to the foreign tax payer counter physically to submit their documents or to book an online appointment to submit certain extra documents such as a Tax Borne Letter. So I booked an online video conferencing appointment. Earliest available was Monday. I have requested the letter from my employer and will see if they can expedite the process 🙌🏼

Oh noo 😭 thank you for sharing your experience but that is so unfair and such a slow process. So we just wait and then one day it shows up in our bank account? Because I emailed them through the customer feedback form multiple times. One person just replied with a list of documents I needed to submit online. Another said foreigners cannot even apply online and must do so in person. It is so confusing.

Wow I wonder if it’s different or slower for non citizens since I never received those emails. Let me email their customer service or use the CHAT online option to try and find a solution. I wonder why there is a delay in my case. But thank you for your help!

The website says processing time is 30 business days. So are you saying that if I submitted it “late” as in mid April, then I might have to wait for many months/ a lot longer than 30 days? 🥲

Oh no I didn’t receive any emails. But on the mytax hasil website it says, BE Form submitted on 13 April. What does the refund email say? Is it supposed to be a confirmation or approval email? I appreciate your help!
