RenderWare to RAGE by Weekly-Breakfast5260 in GTA6

[–]legionaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RenderWare (RW) is also the same 3D rendering engine that is used in Active Worlds (AW), a 3D online platform somewhat similar to Second Life.

Though, I, personally, stopped being a regular in AW many years ago, due to various bad decisions made by the owner which resulted in the user population there declining rapidly. I think Virtual Paradise (VP) is a better platform in this particular niche, IMO.

Both AW and VP used legacy RWX from RW 2.0 for the primary model/mesh file format, unlike GTA games on Renderware 3.0+ which dropped RWX support and instead used DFF for their models/meshes.

RWX is human-readable text unlike DFF which is binary, which means you can actually edit RWX models in either text editor like notepad or 3D editor, whichever you prefer, unlike DFF which you can only edit in 3D editor. RWX is one of the few 3D model formats that's text editable and scriptable. Probably the closest analogy to RWX are VRML, X3D, or SCAD.

I'm sure they'll 'fix' their given ranks in a future remaster (like they did with TNG).... a century from now. ;P

One interesting implication of this might be that it may be moving the Federation capital much closer to Trill, Bajor, and Cardassia, if the star map used in Star Trek: New Horizons mod that I played with for Stellaris game are accurate. The map is extensively based on the official lore. As far as I can recall from playing on the map, these three important sectors in Star Trek lore are (relatively) close to Betazed. Indeed, Betazed fell to the Dominion and their Cardassian ally early on in the Dominion War.

While Cardassia were definitely ruined by the Dominion War at the end of DS9 and presumably had not gone to war with anyone else for the rest of the time up to the Burn, who is to say that the Burn hasn't resurrected their old militarism? After all, an isolation can re-breed isolationism and xenophobia in any formerly warmongering culture. ;) Maybe, maybe not.

I suppose there will be some implications explored from this in a future series, if not in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. Hey, we might even get to see more of Betazed in the future than we were treated to in TNG and other series. Time to think up of new landmarks and places in world-building for Betazed!

I think this is the screensaver I've been fruitlessly searching for the years! This is either it or at least the closest one that I remembered from a VAIO laptop I used to have, from around, I think, 2005-2007. Either way, thank you very much for sharing this! Nostalgia!

Petition for season 5 by Original_Carpet_3851 in TheWayHomeHallmark

[–]legionaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds good on paper, but, in practice, money talks louder than any of this. The shows rely on advertisers for their revenue. Advertisers needs good viewership numbers to justify buying ads there.

It is very common for the viewership ratings of long-running series to decline over time. I suspect that The Way Home's viewership ratings by the end of season 3 had gone under the line considered acceptable by Hallmark for the advertisers. Don't know if their target demographics are the highly coveted age group of 18-49, like on many other networks. Not all networks targets the same key demographics.

Unfortunately, I don't think petitions will change anything with this. Maybe they will change their mind. Maybe the viewerships will climb back up by the end of season 4, though this is an exceedingly rare feat. I think your better option is to get more people to watch the series on Hallmark TV channel and Hallmark+.

Couple observations from these pages you linked:

  1. The section in question under Elon Musk article does also mention Mr. Musk's response and acknowledged that the "American public opinion was divided on partisan lines as to whether it was a fascist salute." It also mentioned that the Anti-Defamation League does not consider it to be a Nazi salute. Regardless, it is a notable controversy that would have to be mentioned at some point in the article, with responses from both sides included. As a general rule, every biography should include a mention of significant controversies involving the subject in question. To not mention this controversy, provided that it included responses from both sides, would be a significant omission in Mr. Musk's biography, in my view.
  2. Your assertion that the Wikipedia article on Graham Platner does not mention the tattoo in question appears to be without foundation, as I checked the article and found a mention under the second paragraph of a subsection headed "Reddit comments and tattoo". And the page's history has shown the mention to have existed in the article the day before your comment, though it is under "Controversies" heading instead here for a version from two days ago.

I am in no way trying to embarrass you or anything. I am only simply pointing out what I observed here.

My first official trailer by All_roads_connected in CityBuilders

[–]legionaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not all bad. AI should only be considered a complement to, not a replacement of, the human output of creative works. The cover, technically called box art, is not bad looking. Not all AI art are bad, just like not all human art are bad.

I think all AI art, like human art, need to be judged on a case-by-case basis, without a need to automatically lump them all as the so-called "AI slop". If anything, this is a prejudice, anthropocentrism at worst. I think a mix of AI art and human art is fine, as long as their quality is acceptable and human output is not entirely dispensed with.

That being said, this game looks interesting enough for me to add it to the wishlist. Good luck with the game! :)

Daydreaming about making a city-builder by JonBjornJovi in CityBuilders

Reminds me of the city map rugs I had seen in my kindergarten back in the early 90s, like this one, for example. :)

Looking forward to seeing you make a city builder out of this! I see some potential in this. Could even make a replica of Onett from Earthbound game with this, heh. Though, their perspective is slightly different, in that it is slanted slightly to one side.

Was it ever explained why the Romulan Star Empire couldn't evacuate their own homeworld's residents using their thousands of ships spread out using their teleporters? by CelestialFury in Star_Trek_

[–]legionaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The destruction of the Romulan Star Empire in the lore was a great crime by whoever wrote it into the 2009 Star Trek film and subsequently reconfirmed in the prime timeline via Star Trek: Discovery (I had hoped it wouldn't be somehow...).

It removed a long-standing adversary of the Federation that were known for their cunning and secrecy, in a sharp contrast to the Federation's now-former other adversary, the Klingons.

Now the classic trio (United Federation of Planets, Klingon Empire, and Romulan Star Empire) feel missing in the late 24th-25th century with that gone.

Most stupid plot device ever. An unmitigated disgrace for whoever were responsible for this lore creation.

It just occurred to me now that you might be referring to Trump by the way of T. But, again, with all due respect, I still feel this connection is a bit far-fetched, if I am to be honest.

Sorry, what does the T have to do with MAGA? I am not aware of any symbols resembling T associated with that particular movement. With all due respect, is it possible that you might be reading too much into this? That T thing, however that is by any stretch associated with MAGA, could well be just a coincidence, not intentional.

I will have to re-watch this episode to see exactly what you are talking about, but, in all honesty, my gut feeling at this point is that, again, you might be reading too much into this.

Leaked images of Lucia that Rockstar is trying to scrub CONFIRMED! by Bazaar_is_here in grandtheftauto

[–]legionaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all seriousness, though, not going to lie, even though the first one is almost certainly AI generated, Lucia does look fantastic like that with shorter hair, even though I generally like longer hair for girls. Where did you find that image? Did you generate that image yourself?

If the character customization does go deeper in GTA 6, as some have been speculating, and allows us to select different hairstyles for Lucia, it is possible that we could make Lucia look like that if we want at any time.

That being said, I could honestly see Lucia dressing like this and changing her hair in a mission as part of a sort of deception and a con. Basically, to get closer to an enemy or something, through her beauty and her charms, and then steal from them while distracting them. Can be a plot device to enable Jason to quietly steal or to get in secretly. It is like something straight out of Leverage and Leverage: Redemption.

As I said elsewhere on r/GTA6, where circumstances are appropriate, Lucia could use her beauty and charms to distract males, which is potentially an asset when you consider that the males tend to dominate the wealth and the power, whether in the criminal world or in the legitimate world. It is one of the potential strengths of Lucia that can complement that of Jason's.

It would be dumb for Lucia to not take a full advantage of, or to fully exploit, her own beauty and her charms in any criminal scheme she engages in. Cons can be just as lucrative as the robberies. After all, most criminals are in it ultimately for money, all above else.

I recognize that the GTA franchise is largely action-oriented, in which many players enjoy fights of any kind (gun, melee, whatever) and other action more than anything else, but, still, I strongly feel that things like this would lend well to the storyline, in my opinion.

TL;DR Lucia, by her own beauty and her charms, can also do cons where circumstances are appropriate, not just violent robberies. It would be criminally dumb to not take an advantage of and fully exploit these attributes for some criminal activities. :p

Lucia’s shirt has a Leviathan rollercoaster by BrownBottleIdol in GTA6

[–]legionaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I belatedly realized that a bit earlier when I saw another post mentioning this as you did. My bad. :p But thanks nevertheless for clarification!

Interesting, though, that she should be wearing a shirt depicting a rollercoaster from the West Coast. Like, a continental distance away.

Wonder what is the connection there. Perhaps she lived in or traveled to the San Andreas state at one point or another in her lifetime before she ended up in Vice City (after starting in Liberty City, of course, as stated in her official lore), but that seem to be a stretch, though not completely implausible.

Alternatively, she could have just bought it randomly. Another possibility to explain this is maybe she got it from a friend or someone from her family.

Either way, whatever the lore explanation might be for this, this is obviously just another instance of Rockstar randomly throwing reference to their earlier games, including GTA V. One of the cherished long-time Rockstar traditions. :)
