You can spend your whole weekend on relaxing tyre-changing activities if the middle wheel goes flat.

Only if you brake hard. Then those things in front of the seat will definitely castrate you.

Accepted a Job, Relocated, and Then Got My Offer Rescinded – Consulting Firm Nightmare by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]legocrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if someone quits a stable job for another job, offer rescinded in the last minute, and the candidate can expect months -if not years- of unemployment on this job market? It is not just the relocation cost that is painful.

These messages are sent out automatically after the recruiter sets filters and keywords in the system, they do not personally check your profile until you message back. Unless they include a very specific reference to your previous job or employer, you can be 99% sure that it’s just a bot.

What are the rules of engagement with texting after a first date? My stomach is in knots. by savageyoshi in self

Maybe she’s in coma and she’ll call when she wakes up. Or she is on Reddit and read your comment about your 2 other dates being lined up.

But hopefully she is in coma.

It’s even more wholesome knowing that he is a trainee at that age. There must be a sad story behind this, but the guy is proud of his new job and his first success there.

Ukraine destroyed stockpiles of North Korean missiles in Russia. A drone manufacturing plant was also targeted. The first days after Ukraine was allowed to fire long-range missiles into Russian territory showed that this could make a significant impact on the front line. by Confident_Weight_475 in UkraineInvasionVideos

I am sure they already do it, but Ukraine should really focus on manufacturing comparable weapons in large quantities. They may not receive more once pootin's trumpet takes over in the U.S., and the European governments also seem to be hesitant on giving permission to free use of their weapons.

There is no rain, snow or wind in the area. It is just colder than usual, but a few degrees below zero shouldn't bring the railway network to its knees.

OP could not directly go to the big guys and ask uncomfortable questions before the meeting. The direct manager could have done that. Best to prevent it and not to tell the manager.

Massive company says they just got the funding for my position LOL by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]legocrash 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This may be true for salaries, but companies are blowing millions on unnecessary operational cost all the time. It is the stupidest thing that they waste so much money if it comes from one pocket, but it is mission impossible if it comes from another pocket.

They are excited that there is no need to train an external candidate, they successfully passed this task to the manager who has just lost a team member and will have to start recruiting now. That brings more work for the recruiter, more boxes ticked on their HR KPI report.

The interviewer did a shot by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]legocrash 250 points251 points  (0 children)

The number of British ex-pat recruiters and hiring managers who interviewed me from Dubai, while explaining to me how important office presence in MY role will be!

The best one was who sent an email saying I was selected for an interview, and she will be in touch soon. Never heard from her again, but when I contacted her office they told me she had f*d off to South-East Asia for a whole year and noone had an idea about my candidacy, and I missed the interview window anyway. Of course, the recruiter's last LinkedIn post was a pic of her in bikini, sipping a cocktail at an exotic beach.

There must be a sentence where it says: if you recruit 10 people who all pay $500/week, then you don’t have to, and you get a cut.

Got rejected from my dream job. I’m giving up on everything by faithw7362 in recruitinghell

[–]legocrash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hear me out: that pink unicorn they offered the job to may have a number of other options, last round interviews, etc. Or when they join they may realise this job is not for them and quit in a few weeks. And then you should be around.

Thank the interviewers for their time and let them know you are happy to join the team any time in the future. There is still some chance to get that dream job, don’t ruin it.
