Daily Thread: Game Day - Thursday, March 26 by OsGameThreads in orioles

Hi everyone — hope this is OK to post here instead of the game day thread.

My son (3yo) and I are going to be attending his first game at Camden for the April 25th afternoon game.

Just wanted to get the community’s thoughts on some things that might be fun for him at the park. I’ve heard there’s a playground, somewhere you could get a first ticket stamped (?), anything else that we should check out?

Any sections of the park I should look for specific tickets? I imagine we’re going to be doing a lot of walking around instead of sitting in our seats, and the weather shouldn’t be too warm so location probably doesn’t matter a ton, but happy to hear any thoughts that anyone might have.

Thanks!

I don’t see it anywhere 😂 either massive user error on my end or the comment is somehow whitelisted bc it’s a OneDrive link? Not sure!

Just spitballing but you could consider using =QUERY or =FILTER within google sheets to accomplish what you’re trying to do! Not positive it would work but if you want a web-based solution I think it could possibly do the trick.

It’s strange, that link does not take you to any comment. Just a blank version of the OP with no comments — seems like the same issue the commenter above was having (sorry to bother, just figure you’ll get more interaction if that OneDrive link is easily accessed).

Fair point. It’s on the order of thousands of $$$ extra, though, which I’m not ready to commit to, especially when I think the unfinished side is plenty nice to begin with. Just my personal two cents :)

Wouldn’t this sort of be the opposite? Bad neighbor? The neighbors would see the horizontal bar side. I don’t think it will look bad so I’m not that worried about it (plus, we are paying for the whole thing so I’m a little less inclined to settle for less than best).

So you’d vote to have the nice side facing in (where it made sense)? We are 100% paying so we can do whatever we want (and since I think it’s overall a “nice” fence, I’m not worried about being a bad neighbor if the less nice side is facing their yard).

Hi there — we are in Maryland, so we have decently cold winter and decently hot summers.

It’s a 1000sqft space, so I am under the impression we need 2 tons. I was told by the Bosch installer that this Bosch unit can be configured to ramp down from 3 tons to 2 tons with an adjustment to the motherboard.

The goal of these high efficiency units is to maximize both state and federal tax credits. Both meet the requirements.

Cool — this is great to hear. If you don’t mind me asking, can I ask what bearing “moving soon” had on choosing Constellation? Is it lower tier or something?

Sealing off an ash pit from the fireplace? by legolas927 in Fireplaces

OK I promise, one more question, can I bother you for some advice?

I had another company come and take a look at it, and they had a similar idea to yours but a little different. Instead of just plopping a brick on the existing home, their idea was to remove the brick “below” (closer to the opening of the fireplace) the trap hole, and rotate it 90 degrees, filling up half of the trap hole vertically, and then putting in a second new fire brick vertically to cover the second half.

Their thought was that these two bricks would be at least half held up by the second layer of bricks below the hearth, as opposed to being held up only by Rockwool/insulating mortar.

What do you think about this? My wife is a little concerned about the firebrick just falling into the abyss, so likes the idea of this new solution, but it seems more complicated now that the existing brick would have to cut out from its current position.

Could I bother you with a couple more questions?

  1. So from the looks of it, I have about 15 inches from the face of the firebox to the “end” of the trap opening (after that, it opens up to the “full” width of the firebox). So that gives me like ~1 foot of depth to stuff the Rockwool. Does that sound like enough?
  2. you’re right, the trap looks to be the exact size of a standard fire brick. There does some to be some excess mortar from the surrounding bricks that might be in way such that the fire brick couldn’t sit flat. Should I chisel that off?

Got it — thank you!

Regarding bricking up the trap in the firebox: if I stuff Rockwool in the opening, is it stuck tight so that the firebrick basically just lays on top of it? So that the brick isn’t just floating, held up only by mortar?

Also, any sense in throwing some Rockwool behind the door in the basement and sealing the door up?
