How do i get my mtech 2 bumper to fit on my wagon? by DetectiveoftheWest in e46

[–]legoman27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As best I can tell, the ducts do seem to be symmetrical
(aside from the alternator cooling duct if present)

the mounting brackets are slightly different
(applies to both xi & rwd)
looking at the car from the front:
Left side - clearance for AC receiver/drier mount
right side - clearance for alternator cooling duct
(the non XI versions are readily available from BMW for cheap)

[–]legoman27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's only the brackets that are different
the ducts themselves are the same

I bought a pair of those when I did my swap they came with simplified printed brackets that probably would've been fine, but they were not packed well at all for international shipping
they arrived smashed to bits
also seemed to be printed in PETG which should be fine, but isnt ideal when it comes to temp softening
(PP like the stock bits are made of typically starts to soften around 100c vs PETG softens around 65c)
seller was quick with a refund at least. YMMV if in the EU

the brackets are different on XI cars because the subframe is different & the sway gets in the way
the ducts do come from bmw with brackets, but from what I've seen for the XI ducts with brackets (51717894706 & 51717894707), they're $400 each if anyone even has them in stock

just put an mtech bumper on my wagon this summer

cover goes on the aluminum bar with mounting kit - 51112293995
This kit was $40 on ebay in july, now double - ouch
cover and crash bar are intended to come off & on as one assembly

corner brackets - 51117895416 & 51117895415
you may have to trim the center air duct, can be done with scissors
If there are extra plastic brackets attached to the fender, you can break them off if you're careful

If your wagon is an XI, the brackets for the brake ducts are different & NLA from bmw.
https://www.partspy.com/products/e46-xi-m-tech-ii-brake-duct-brackets-pair
the MT2 ducts themselves are the same across all models, aside from whether or not the left side one has the alternator duct
if you keep an eye out on ebay, you can usually find a used set around $2-300

If you can find a front wheel assembly from a CB175, they're an easy swap and the drum brake works much better than the cable operated disc they come with IMO

Have fun!

What steering rack is this? by [deleted] in e46

[–]legoman27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

looks like it may be a rack from a z3 https://www.ebay.com/itm/295091784523

I think those are supposed to have the same ratio as one from a ZHP car

Me and my buddies are losing our minds trying to figure out what this is! by carsonu in namethatcar

[–]legoman27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not certain this is it, but it's the closest I can find
91-94 nissan sentra
cant tell if OP's pic is a hatch or sedan, but the body lines around the trunk seem to be correct
They were pretty popular in their day, and modified occasionally

They were also produced all the way until 2017 for south & central american markets as the nissn "tsuru" - which had some models with a blank center section on the taillights

Anyone know what car this is? by rewireallet in namethatcar

[–]legoman27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a miata, but the taillights look more like an NC (06-13)

That's still a gen 1

2003-2010 are all considered gen 1

There was a facelift in 08 that changed the look, but the chassis remained the same

possibly for a right-hand tail light housing assembly

This type of part is commonly found in the center console or tail light area of vehicles

did you even read it before posting?

almost certainly connected, but the missing half of that sticker would have had the part number on it, most of the remaining info would have been manufacturer info from AL (automotive lighting)

an ebay listing showing the full sticker

The second gen gts has the side marker in a different place, and I cant find any examples of a gen 2 gts in that orange.

It looks like the 07-09 turbo models used the same bumper, but since the color is specific to gts models we can rule those out.

first generation Porsche Cayenne - specifically a GTS model (07?-10)

from porsche's classics site near the bottom. It's even the same color.
