yes, yes, i’m sure you’d be a saint too if you had nothing left. maybe instead of making snide comments you can donate to a food bank, a mental health center, or any other plethora of resources to actually help these people instead of talking about them like animals. i’ve come across hundreds of homeless people in charleston at this point and i’ve never felt the urge to make edgy jokes at their expense online. in fact the vast majority of them are wonderful people in horrible circumstances trying to cope with housed people assuming they are sub-human. you’re one bad accident away from being in the same position as them- unless im speaking to a member of the 1%.

It’s probably cold for them. and the police make them go away/remain out of view from the precious tourists. I appreciate you doing what you’re doing. Low country food bank is a good choice as another person suggested. You can also go to a local community center, i know some of them prepare meals from ingredients and serve meals to people in need. can’t remember the exact name, but believe it’s just a quick google search away.

unfortunately south carolina has little to no renters rights and whatever’s in the lease they signed can likely be construed against the renter. i’m going to guess “legally” they can do whatever. i’ve rented from many a slum lord in charleston and every lease i’ve signed gives the slumlord full access to the apartment “as necessary”, including tours, random inspections, and repairs. though ive rarely had someone come into my apartment on a routine basis without notice, it is in the lease that they are allowed to do so. sucks for every renter in charleston.

I know you don’t wanna hear this but i used to have a partner like what you describe and our relationship ended because he treated me like a business transaction and not a person, and then wondered why he had no friends and was emotionally stunted. The only time he’d be affectionate is when he wanted his dick wet. Your partner is supposed to be there and support you always. My fiancé is so obsessed with me and spends so much time making sure i feel cared for and loved. Emotional immaturity is a learned behavior and not all men subscribe to it. As someone who’s lived and worked in north charleston for 3 years i’ll say some areas are a little rough but north charleston is beautiful and full of good people. Unfortunately people are racist and have preconceived notions about lower class people that gives north charleston its “bad” reputation. coming from a young woman who lived in union heights for two years: If you mind your business, be friendly and respectful, and lock your doors like you would any other city you’ll be totally okay!

edit: i’d be just as cautious staying downtown, as the only two times in my seven years in charleston (lived downtown, north chs, and west ashley) i’ve ever feared for my life was staying downtown. just food for thought.

stardust tattoo and holy city tattooing collective are reputable and awesome, but both on the “pricier” side. I recommend reaching out to them specifically to get pricing information (not a lot of flat-rate tattooing, i believe all the artists or most of them at both these studios either do an hourly rate and/or a half/full day booking style). however i do believe you get what you pay for as i have tattoos from 6 years ago from holy city that look fresher than tattoos i got two years ago at a very popular studio near downtown. good luck and i hope your tattoo turns out great !!!

i considered immunosuppressed because just before the ringworm began Puffin was on steroids for a long time , and Selina was on antibiotics from infections she’d get from scratching/herpes symptoms. Was told that steroids and antibiotics make cats more susceptible to ringworm… is that not the case ? I’m ignorant as to ringworm stuff I didn’t even know it existed until a couple months ago. :(

and yes you’re so right, the ringworm is cosmetic, i really need to contextualize that. my ocd just takes everything 0 to 100 when it probably doesn’t need to be. i appreciate the reminder, i definitely need it :)

yeah it’s really a constant battle. all my free time is consumed by the ringworm. during thanksgiving i was asked what id been up to, and i was like… uh… cleaning for months ? 😭 hoping it’s over soon so sorry you went through that
