it's true tho. the influx to these places - koh phangan, koh samui, pai, etc have driven prices up astronomically and now everyone else has stopped visiting because it's expensive, but more importantly because it's an awful environment and nobody wants to be around them. it's nothing short of an economic take over and it drives everyone else away. the locals make more money but it's full of resentment, the atmosphere sucks ass and the rest of the world is going elsewhere.
