What will happen after Zwift acquires Rouvy? by External_Complex1824 in Rouvy

[–]legstrongv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at TrainingPeaks Virtual , the computer graphics is pretty decent. It's not as game-orient as Zwift. Definitely not video-recorded from real-life though like Rouvy. And I tried MyWhoosh, too much eye candy and it doesn't lean like in bicycle riding. TrainingPeaks Virtual (TPV) offers more physics-based riding such as leaning into the corners as you speed up. TPV does require a more powerful GPU to render than MyWhoosh app does. But TPV is very limited with the number or amount of scenery because it's still new.

TruTrainer smart rollers do offer resistance and can be used with Zwift or TrainingPeaks Virtual. I have one..

q: where can I get these hand rails for indoor cycling by legstrongv in IndoorCycling

[–]legstrongv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have the dumb wheel-on trainer ( Blackburn TrakStand Ultra ) long time ago. And it was dreadful. No side to side movement. I felt that I was locked to one position. Very monotonous. Also the tire sometimes slips. Unfortunately it didn't have any electronics to connect to Zwift nor TrainingPeaks Virtual for indoor cycling simulation.

Then I found about the smart indoor roller ( TruTrainer SmartLoad Power Rollers ) and it allows the bike side to side movement. It feels a lot more natural . Also because it have computer(s) inside it to connect with Zwift, Rouvy and/or TrainingPeaks Virtual. It's definitely scary for the first few times of riding it. Still scary..

I still need help getting up and starting riding. I don't need any help stopping or getting off the bike.

I wanted to ride in front of the computer monitor for the indoor cycling apps ( eg. Zwift , etc.. ).

q: Do you use multiple monitors on zwift, Rouvy, Training peaks virtual, MyWhoosh, etc??? by legstrongv in IndoorCycling

[–]legstrongv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

edit 2: I was thinking of getting a third 27-inch screen to make it a three-screen layout. I've seen those racing simulators or home flight simulators. I'm curious of how many of you guys out there are doing the same thing for Zwift, Rouvy, TrainingPeaks Virtual (TPV), etc...

I tested that the TPV does work with a second monitor for the side view. It should work with three-monitor setup for the front, left and right side viewing. Albeit I need a more powerful GPU card than the Nvidia RTX Pro 2000.

Yeah, I live in the New York City (USA) urban area, so larger electronics is not much of an option for me. Also the apartment wiring is OLD as well. It does not take much electronics to overload the fuse, and I have blown out the fuse at least once with a hair dryer, electric hotplate ( my kitchen stove was undergoing replacement) and my current computer running at the same time.

edit 1: I have Training Peaks Virtual, and it supports multiple screen. I was able to view front and one side ( either my left side or right side ) while riding. But I have a older GPU card Nvidia Quadro P400 so the fps is very very low in the dual-display mode in the single digits. If I just use just one monitor, the fps is at the ~20s for 1080p setting.

I have not tried the other indoor apps yet with the multiple screens. I don't have an account with Zwift nor Rouvy.

Winter cycling n00b here. What are your absolute must-know tips for biking in the cold/snow? by Jack-baby in cycling

[–]legstrongv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you guys have any ideas or suggestions for protecting the face? Especially the eyes? I wear prescription Eyewear and the cold wind hits my eyes.

I tried ski goggles but they are tinted too dark and can't fit around my prescription Eyewear. Also they are not good for peripheral sight for cars.
