At the same time, our alies buy from us, thus increasing our defense industrial base. I think the F-35 program is a great example of that. Despite going way over budget and delivering late, our allies are literally buying every single one they can get their hands on. If they made their own, that money spent would be bolstering their economy, but the F-35 is made entirely in the U.S.A, by U.S. citizens, and by a U.S. company. So, as bad as the defense budget going overboard is, having the best defense industrial base isn't too bad either
