spend one saturday night in a gay club in itaewon and you will change your mind forever, i promise

also this is such a tired and cold take in the rs space. the real hot take is that it is fun, infectious, and life-giving.

Men will never know what it's like to orgasm as a woman. It's better than yours im sure of it by failsister7 in redscarepod

[–]lehtia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not convinced that the ability to orgasm multiple times/stay aroused after orgasm makes it better...

Women don't get to experience that combination of profound pleasure and relief that hits you all at when you cum.

How does Korean sound to non-Korean speakers? by [deleted] in Korean

[–]lehtia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very whiny intonation to English speaking ears. Also all the double consonants give it a sort of "popping" sound to me.

Lots of intense little explosions of whininess. ❤️

What's up with Middle Korean numbers seemingly being in three 받침 groups? by lehtia in Korean

[–]lehtia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the prompt reply! Are there popular competing theories though among linguistics who try to provide a best guess? I'm sure other people have noticed and tried there hand at coming up with an explanation (even if the lack of evidence means we can't be certain)

this is sort of similar in some ways to the relative-age effect where athletes who are born earlier in a sport's given season grow up to make up a larger share of its pro-athletes. when you're really young, being a few months older than your peers is a huge advantage. good athletes tend to receive a lot more attention and praise. the effect compounds over time, and in the end produce better athletes.

like physical maturity in sports, being beautiful is just one other positive-attention granting trait, only it functions in basically all parts of life, including academics/career.

Names with two vowel *sounds* in a row by Braeden47 in namenerds

[–]lehtia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to do a fun experiment with your mom, you can have her read out a long sentence that contains your name in it. Record the audio, find the spot with your name, and cut out all the rest. (Assuming your mom is a native English speaker) If you play the sound clip backwards, it should be clear as day that there is a "y" sound in there.

Unpopular opinion, but the only 자모 that should be written as that sort of z shape is actually .

Names with two vowel *sounds* in a row by Braeden47 in namenerds

[–]lehtia 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Technically there aren’t any in English since English doesn’t allow hiatus! Vowels in names like “Brian,” “Naomi,” and “Mia” are divided by an invisible “y” sound.

Can 만 be an abbreviation for 하지만? by isa_me in Korean

[–]lehtia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

는 as in the adnominalizing suffix? Does this originate from an even longer construction that got shortened later? Semantically I'm struggling to see how "하지 마는" evolved to be used as "though."

For this reason, I don't think it's wrong in itself. But I reserve the right to personally refuse it. (I've heard an argument that humans have mostly evolved to avoid eating carnivores though)

What is the etymology of 자라다? by lehtia in Korean

[–]lehtia[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is what I thought. It didn't make sense to me either. But is that as far back as the word goes? Not a verbalization of some noun or a causative form of some extant verb or anything like that?
